Man, after the throttling of USU and the beatdown of Arky St, why aren't the Vols in the NC game?! ESPN hates Tennessee.

Mark Schlabach predicts Tennessee to play Duke in the Belk Bowl and Brett McMurphy has Tennessee playing Iowa in the Music City Bowl.

NCAA College Football BCS Bowl Projections Week 3 - ESPN

To play Duke, with Cutcliffe as their coach in Charlotte, which is pretty much as home game for Duke. However; it could be good for our recruiting in that area. More exposure.

I remember in the Peach Bowl, last season, Duke gave A & M all that they could handle.

Mcmurphy has TCU v UAB in the Liberty Bowl. Does he think UAB is in the SEC or does he not think any other teams from the SEC will qualify?

Being bowl eligible does not guarantee a bowl invite. Right now it seems folks are looking at a MINIMUM 6-6 season with ONE of those wins being over FCS opponent Chattanooga and 2 mid major FBS opponents in USU & ASU. Does this in fact (6 win season with 2 mid major wins and an FCS win),guarantee a bowl invitation? I seems to me over the last several years there have been 6 and even 8 win teams passed over due to a combination of NCAA bowl eligibility rules and inter-conference/bowl management contracts.

Unless rules have changed again, it seems possible 6 wins w/ 2 against mid major and 1 FCS oponents is not enough to get Tennessee into a bowl if SEC has a lot of teams get eligible. Anybody got the current 2014 skinny on where to find the definitive bowl eligibility rules and etc.

Inquiring minds want to know.

The Vols played FBS opponents in Utah State and Arkansas State, not FCS. If that's what you were saying would not look good.

Neither USU or ASU were FCS.

With the way our fans have traveled, historically speaking, a 6-6 Tennessee team assuredly receives a bowl invite.

Because Tennessee's fan base is so strong and our fans travel so well, a 6-6 UT team will definitely be bowling. A perfect example of the fan impact was our 2009 season where a 7 win team played on New Years Day.

Any bowl committee would be salivating over being able to bring Tennessee to their bowl.

Huge fanbase and first bowl since 2010?

They'll jump at it.

Music City Bowl has averaged ~55,000 since 2008. Tennessee sold out LP Field and put 69,143 in the stands.

You think Franklin America will give 2 craps if 3 of our wins are against 2 mid-majors and FCS Chattanooga? No.

Tennessee will go to a bowl game at 6-6.

EDIT: Ole Miss went in 2013 and put 52k in the stadium.

Vandy went in 2012 and put 55k in. This shows how poor fan support for Vandy is even when they're in the programs best run in decades and playing a game in the city their team is based in. Can't even put 60k. Pathetic.

Mississippi State went in 2011 and put 55k in.

Tennessee went in 2010 and put 69k in. Max capacity for LP Field.

Kentucky went in 2009 and put 57k in.

Vandy went in 2008 and put 54k in.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl | Bowl History

Music City Bowl would not turn down the chance to sell an additional 13,000 tickets. Tennessee hits 6-6 and we're almost assured to go to Nashville.

Was at our last bowl in Nashville. It was like 95% Vols / 5% UNC fans. If we get a bowl in Nashville or Memphis, hopefully we have that similar turnout.

Please VN, stop with these absolutely ridiculous bowl threads. If we win this weekend, then we can talk.

If Tennessee is 6-6 there is no question they get a bowl. Bowls know how good our fan base is.
