Here's most likely how the rest of the season goes

I say we just go ahead and win out! With this team, there isn't one prediction better than any other IMO. Talent, heart, and a great staff, but depth issues, QB issues, and the history of TN messing up every spread in Vegas when they play

We won't beat Auburn, Ga and Ole Miss w/o a passing game.

Auburns offense is looking good but i think we can limit it. their D is questionable at best. our problems and their problems will offset each other and it will be a close game.

i agree. we lose close if we cant so much as pass the ball more than we did at the swamp.

as for UGA and Ole Miss....no chance. itll be, how are the gators saying it? oh, "not playing to win but to keep it close."--idiots.

Alright guys now that the season has been predicted for us and the money is in the bank. Who is up for talking recruits and spring practice? j/k I just want to get to 2-2 for now and worry about them as they come and enjoy EB in his last year on the hill. Would love to see that young man take the record with one to the house! That will be the highlight of the season IMO.

I think if JC doesn't get things rolling against Ohio CLK may make the move. It wouldn't surprise me if he brings NS in earlier in the game to get some time with the 1st team IF we are up comfortably--just to see how well he does. It's without-a-doubt a HUGE game not only for Tennessee, but for JC as well. If he doesn't play well against Ohio, I think he is benched with the meat of our SEC schedule coming up.

We MUST win the games we are supposed to(Ohio, Memphis, Vandy, Kentucky). I don't know about Bama and Ole Miss since both games are on the road--we MIGHT pull an upset in one of those 2. If not though, then that leaves us having to win 1 out of 3 tough SEC contests(Auburn, Georgia, S. Carolina) to become bowl eligible and 2 of those 3 to finish above .500. All 3 games are at home, so I think we definitely have a shot at all 3 of those. Auburn has yet to face a defense and they lack depth on D(also West Virginia was running all over them until they abandoned the run for some reason), Georgia has yet to find its defense, and South Carolina is too inconsistent.

I'd LOVE to win ALL these games, but its a little unrealistic. With the exception of 2 TOUGH road contests, we definitely have a shot at running the table and finishing 8-4 at best IMO. 9 wins is possible, but I think that the 7-8 range is more likely. I feel as though that would be a HUGE success for CLK and this team in their first year together--especially with the devastation of last year.

Finishing the season strong will definitely put us ahead of schedule in turning things around and with all these recruits coming in, I think we are in the SEC championship chatter next season if Tyler Bray is as good as advertised. I don't think NS can beat him out if he's anywhere near as good as I think he can be. There's a storm brewin' in Knoxville and the rest of the nation was served notice yesterday. We won't back down and this coaching staff is the real deal. Doubters can doubt, but the proof is in the pudding.

The auburn game is going to be a dog fight. I think its going to be a very physical game because we both like to run the ball. Auburn may run the spread but they use it in order to open up the running game.

8-4 is where some experts saw us finishing this year, and I agree with those guys, 8-4 is my expectation for this year.

Are these the same experts that saw us getting rolled by the gators? I'm just sayin'...

A couple points on Auburn: They have yet to play a serious defense like ours. It'll be interesting to see how their O reacts to being hit in the mouth for 60 minutes. Their D isn't deep at all(ours is deeper) and they are susceptible to the run. West Virginia was running all over them until WVU's coach panicked and began throwing the ball.

On Georgia, we still haven't seen what their identity is this year. They haven't stopped anyone yet on D. Their O has been WAY too inconsistent. They showed flashes against Arkansas, but Arkansas has a suspect D at best. Georgia is definitely winnable--depending on which UT and which UGA teams show up. I honestly don't see us beating Ole Miss since it is on the road. They are stacked but it would be a big upset. I'm sure Coach O would LOVE to exact some sweet revenge in that game...

I was thinking 8-4 before the season and with a little luck we could go 9-3, but after watching our coaching staff playing with one arm tied behind their backs with a QB that has no confidence I think we will be lucky to see 5-7. They have no chance of a winning season with Crompton. He will have some good stats against the lesser competition, but the SEC teams will fry him. He is not getting better by any means.

I do not know if Stephens can do any better, this staff is very limited in what they can do. I would line up in a wishbone or a G-gun for the rest of the year and play ball control and sound defense.

I believe CLK will find an Offense by the Georgia game, then no one will stand in our way. We have the best coaching staff in the nation and they really think we should 3-0 right now and so do I.

Ohio W
Auburn W
Georgia W
Alabama W
South Carolina W
Memphis W
Ole Miss W
Vandy W
Kentucky W

UT finishes 10-2

GO VOLS

i was impressed with how the defense played and the initial game plan...i am still convinced lane was not trying to win the game though....think 8 wins is very optimistic with crompton at qb...defensively you obviously have a 10 win team but think they are going to wear down over the year with crompton at qb...hope you win all of the rest and beat the west, just dont think its going to happen in the next two years for you...but after that it is going to be fun again.

that is a lot of kool aid thinking you should be 3-0, you had 210 yards of offense and i think never ahead in the game, we got outplayed no doubt, outcoached in many areas as well, but honestly never worried about losing that game with the play calling from your offense and the qb play...going to be tough winning 8 or 9 with crompton running around out there.

Not to be a party pooper, but we did lose to UCLA. If we can lose to UCLA, we can lose to anyone. I'm not saying we are going to lose to Ohio this weekend or anything, but we (and by we I mean the team) MUST take it one game at a time. That being said, we have a premier defense, and if Crompton gets better as the season progresses (or Nick comes in and turns out to be an average or better QB), we will have the chance to win every game we play.

We have a chance to win them all with the defense that Monte puts on the field. I will be thrilled if we can get an 8-4 season this year with a bowl game to put us at a possible 9 wins. That would be a big accomplishment, but let's take out Frank Solich and his option attack out first this weekend.

I think that UCLA is underrated. Their defensive front 7 were bigger, stronger, and quicker than Florida. They are 3-0 right now and had we not put their QB out for several weeks I could see them as an upper tier team in the PAC 10. They also have a very effective offensive coordinator who can get them a couple of iffy wins. We may look back at the end of the season and see that we lost to a very good team.

unfortunately we may not get to see if UCLA is a very good team seeing their conference has parity this year and is leveled off. Cali is calling for top votes, but won't get it done with Tyler as qb.

Come on guys...the Kool-aid is great this year. Have some! The Vols are going to spoil Bama's plans this year. Go Vols 10-2.

.i am still convinced lane was not trying to win the game though.....

Do you and any of the other gator homers have any idea just how utterly retarded that statement sounds? No.. I guess you don't. Not that I am surprised.

8 and 4 was my guess at the start of the season. Hope it's true. That would be a great turn around from last season. In 2 more years, look for a run at the NC! Go Vols!!!!!!

I agree with your point on UCLA. CRN seems to have that team heading the right direction.

Good observations. I've watched UT vs UCLA and UT vs UF and watched UT vs UF a second time. UT's defense and Hardesty are outstanding, but UT's passing game has the offense in a catch-22 situation. Teams are going to defend the run against UT and try to force UT to let Crompton throw it more than CLK wants to let him. Unless UT can get a passing game going, it's going to be fairly tough sledding. UT's offense scored 13 against UCLA and 13 against UF. Scoring 13 points per game won't get many if any wins in the SEC. UT must start scoring TDs instead of FGs when it gets in goal to go situations. The Auburn game will be very telling. Auburn's defense looked vulnerable to the run against WV and Auburn had trouble running against them. That bodes well for UT. It should be a great game and it is somewhat of a must win for UT, IMO.

VS OHIO-Expect another Western Kentucky Kind Of Style Win

VS Auburn-Most likely, Auburn comes in undefeated, but they will leave Knoxville with a loss, Auburn hasn't really proved themselves yet, and don't talk to me about WVU because WVU is sort of on the terrible side this year and Auburn struggled.

VS UGA- South Carolina and Arkansas laid down after they went up, UGA is lucky to have 2 wins and they will not advance anymore than where they are at, Vols win here for 3rd win a row.

@ Bama- I think Bama gets us this year, they are looking pretty sharp, and this will just have to be a win we will have to wait til next year to get, we will get our third loss here, but it will not be a blowout.

VS USC JR- Spurrier will get punk'd by CLK, Vols bounce back to keep the country talking.

VS Memphis- Another blowout win, against another cupcake team.

@ Ole Miss- Snead will be tough, I think this is going to be one of those ball games that is a pure dog fight, and the team with less mistakes is going to win, I'm going to go ahead and say that Ole Miss might take this win on a late fg or td, and we will drop to 4 losses this year.

VS Vandy- WIN, WIN, WIN, we have come to expect nothing less.

@ Kentucky- It's going to be closer than the experts think, Kentucky looks sharp, although we will find out how sharp they are when they start playing their SEC Schedule, it could be a close game or it could be the same ol Kentucky, and Vols Roll to cap off the season with only 4 losses and a bowl birth.

I agree, but with one exception, the Vols will beat Ole Miss.

ohio u should be a easy win

auburn 60-40 for auburn.

georgia 75-25 for the dogs

bama 90-10 for the tide

sc 60-40 for vols

memphis 95-5 for vols

ole miss 80-20 rebs

vandy 75-25 vols

uk 50-50

all in percentages looks to me with the rough schedule ahead and our inability to score we should expect at best a 7-5 or 6-6 record. i would be really happy with anyting better than that.

Vols win out and go 10-2. Flu becomes wide spread at UF and they lose 2 SEC games (LSU, UGA) Since vols only have 1 SEC loss, Vols go to ATL for the SEC Championship game.

(OK i can dream right)
