Also getting tired of the "but we heard about the hype last offseason, too" argument. I don't think most of us had the Vols as a lock for SEC East champ this season, so writers who act like we did are not really doing much research.

The team made undeniable progress in many ways this year, and the fact that we'll end the season comfortably inside the top 20 (just a guess) should be evidence enough that things are back on track.

Not very insightful overall.

This was especially funny because he called Dobbs a 3* recruit and one of the only recruiting services to rank him as a 4* was ESPN's.

So basically he inadvertently admitted that even ESPN analysts don't think much of ESPN's recruiting evals.

That's the biggest steaming pile of trash I have ever read. Lazy, unresearched, inaccurate... If he got paid for that someone is getting ripped off.

I regret clicking on it and giving ESPN revenue.

It is evident that ESPN doesn't know very much about the Tennessee roster and any redshirt players. Our OL will be young, but will be better. My concern is a replacement for JMR if he goes pro.

Here's the five questions for those who don't click the link:

1. How good can Dobbs be? A valid question plenty of us on here have asked in regards to his throwing ability. And certainly something to keep an eye on going into the off season.

2. Which underclassmen, if any, will bolt for the NFL? Another valid question since you have JRM, Sutton and Kamara all submitting paperwork to the NFL draft advisory board. And those three are pretty key individuals going forward into 2016 if they stay or if they leave.

3. Will Curt Maggitt ever play for Tennessee again? So Ostendorf had a Jimmy Hyams moment...

4. Who takes over at left tackle? Another valid question going forward and something that certainly will come into account in 2016. Let's face it, the line still isn't as deep or experienced as it could be. So whomever wins out into that position has a heavy load on their shoulders.

5. How do the Vols deal with expectations? Probably the most ambiguous question that deserves to be asked. Expectations this year (2015) were pretty high after the Iowa game last year. As I'm sure they will be going into 2016 after the blowout those boys just put on Northwestern.

So honestly the bigger, unasked question to #5 is "have Jones and Debord learned not to take their feet off the gas in regards to the competition?" And furthermore, can the defense hold up in games where they hold a significant lead? Expectations will be higher since we aren't playing a ranked OU and will be playing a VaTech team that just got a new coach (albeit one of the better hires). Florida is breaking in a new QB and have a lot of people declaring for the draft. UGA, USCe and Mizzou undergoing significant coaching changes, UK is...well, UK. And Vandy is still a dumpster fire. And TAM is a match strike away from being a dumpster fire.

So yes, conditions are far better in 2016 for a run at the SEC East title than they were in 2015. So the expectations will be higher going into this season.

Many players have stayed and "turned down money" many factors involved than just the money despite what people like to say on here. JRM is almost for sure coming back and I would count Cam being out yet either. I think Kamara stays also, but we shall see. I think Cam is the one if anybody leaves, but again I think he stays. No info just gut, JRM is the one I have a little outside info on and all indications I have gotten is he is more than likely back at UT. GBO!!!!

Decided not to read the article considering the comments made ITT.

I still think JRM, Sutton, and Kamara all leave early.

Let's say you were a writer assigned to write about VT and you did the best you could with the info you were given and time you had to turn it in. Then you go onto their site and stumble across this thread written about you by VT fans.

Would you think negative or positive about the fans and program?
Would that effect how you write about Tn in the future?
Could how you write about Tn effect recruiting?

My point is you can say he made clear errors and point out where they were. You can question his research as well. Being hateful and rude is a choice and reflects on the whole fan base. JMHO

I doubt he's ever seen this message board and if he did it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference. He probably has his mind made up about the Tennessee football program as do a lot of ESPN talking heads.
