Completely disagree. Motivation and chemistry are two of the few things that the coaches actually can manipulate one way or the other. Right now, the teams that are winning in the SEC are doing it by more or less rolling out the ball to elite athletes who play simplified, old fashioned football. The Vols need better players and it's going to take a different group of coaches to get those players in the door.
I'm no Dooley fan, but Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech would be one on that list who took a bit longer to get the ball rolling with the Hokies.
And it took Majors considerable time to get Tennessee back to SEC contention, even longer to get us consistently back among the contenders.
An argument can be made for patience, although that argument is usually coupled with some tangible evidence things are improving.
We'll know that by the end of the year. This game doesn't inspire confidence. But I was a kid when Georgia and Southern Cal rolled Tennessee on consecutive Saturdays. We finished that year 8-4. Considering where we had been in the past, that was enough evidence things were getting better.
We are getting better. We gave the gators all they could handle until fatigue set in. We still just don't have the depth to take it to those 5 star type teams for 4 qtrs. We might get over the hump by hiring a better coach, but stability and persistence wins in the end imo.

name a coach at a historically great school like UT who was ultimately was considered successful and that did not have it rolling by year 3?
Saban at LSU
Saban at Bama
Carroll at USC
Stoops at Oklahoma
Holtz at Notre Dame
Brown at Texas
this is a joke to say, "we need more time"...
We are improving. Fire Dooley now and you can put your money on UT not recovering for a VERY long time. The team gave up on the coaches when the pressure got really turned up. Not the other way around.
