A natural at recruiting and one of the best in-game HC's in all of FCS..Before anyone says "had to Google, don't want", delve into what he's accomplished..#1 recruiting classes in FCS 4 different seasons along with improved W-L at every stop are impressive..But he is a winner..Period..Wherever he's been folks just love the guy..Hell he turned former Vol QB B.J. Coleman into a 7th Rd pick by the Packers, which to me was a miracle in and of itself..But give him more than a cursory look and I believe he just might be the perfect guy for the job....JMHO

You are thinking small. In order to achieve big, you have to think big...

Geez, take a minute and checkout his resume..And current rankings of his def/off..He has taken AP from the longest losing streak in the country to a probable playoff bid in 2 years..With maybe .05% of the resources UT has..

Oh wow he’s number one in recruiting in FCS? That’s like being the smartest kid in remedial math. Pass.

With a program that had won a handful of games in a decade? The job he’s doing this year has been utterly amazing.

He’s not qualified for the Tennessee job, but an FBS team somewhere is going to get one hell of a coach next year.

Just listened to one of his interviews. I'm somewhat intrigued.
Unlike Butch Jones, he actually says stuff that indicate original thought processes are taking place.

He has accomplished literally nothing that would warrant a look for Tennessee. Here is what you need to ask yourself. Lets say for arguments sake the following schools were looking for head coaches now: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Clemson, FSU, Michgan, MSU, PSU, OSU, USC, Miami, Washington, Oklahoma and TCU. Do you seriously think this guy would be on ANY of their radar?

so you heard one speech from him? and how many have you heard from Butch? now how original would the speech be after hearing it for 5 years.

you just want to hear another voice.

maybe

Look, if we hadn't gone through Dooley and Jones, I might be interested, but we're not in the position to take a chance and a home run is required.

That said, a program turnaround like that is certainly noteworthy. The guy may be something big someday. Not making a comparison, but I'd hire a Steve Spurrier at 32

Excellent point. And, nothing against the young man, but the very mention of a coach with this thin of a resume points to the subtle, gradual lowering of expectations of the Tennessee fan base. Or, "this is all we deserve". It's time to break out of this thinking.

Didn't Notre Dame have success hiring a High School coach at one time?
Maybe there are some good ones in the area.

Nothing says "winner" like 0-11.

Whoa......settle down there sport!

Let's start with a HS coordinator. We don't want to get too big for our britches and overreach! :)

He's doing good work there. But going from a program like AP to Tennessee is a huge jump. He will have to recruit 5 star players, manage their egos and coach them up to compete with the best of the best week in and week out.He also has to develop schemes against coaches who are paid millions to develop schemes. Not to mention he probably faces no scrutiny or criticism from AP, while every mistake will be magnified on the big stage.

I'm not saying he won't be successful at the FBS level. But managing a program at an SEC school is a tall order for any coach.

Except taking that team, with top ranked recruiting and excellent coaching, to the top of the OVC, 1 win behind Jacksonville St, and next month into the FCS playoffs..They pack the stadium on gameday and handle their business on the field..AP was MISERABLE before he arrived..29 game losing streak was the longest in CFB..But that's all changed..I have not stated that UT will/should/won't hire Will Healey, just that he's an under-the-radar HC with a HUGE upside but a candidate who's yet to be mentioned....

No Gerry Faust was a disaster at Notre Dame. There for five years and never won more than 7 games in a season. Culture was a complete mess as well. Players refusing to practice and even having to take multiple votes to see if they would play in a bowl game. Remarkable that Lou Holtz was able to turn it around as quickly as he did.
