I only see about a dozen offers or so, within the Top 100 on rivals. Please don't let this be disappointing again.....I see the OSU, California and Texas teams are already at it for next year.

I touched on this in another thread and I'm wondering what others think. The trend seems to be trying to lock kids up, especially in-state, as early as possible. I know for a fact TX is known for this approach. I believe the story is that we got Creer basically due to the fact he didn't want to commit to TX early enough to suit them. This tactic concerns me since it seems most effective with in-state talent (of which we have precious little so we have to try to go steal someone else's) and negates much of the "closer" approach that some, including CPF, have been known for.

Thoughts?

There are three 5* DTs in Rivals early Top 100 for 2009. 2 of them are already committed and the 3rd is from Texas with UF being the only SEC school on his list. There are seven 4* DTs listed in the Top 100 and 2 of them are already committed.

come people give the new coaches a chance. I'm not going to complain until the outcome of next year. you got to think the year after Peyton left we won the NC. So anything could happen. We'll be fine next year

I noted 4 DT's committed in that top 100. All four playing for the home school.

It's too early to worry about the class of 09.

Maybe as a fan...but, for the coaches, it's a very important time for recruiting.

Texas is hosting 20+ class of 09 visitors and their families this weekend. Fulmer and staff better be making similar plans.

Fulmer said the staff is taking some time off. Not making that up.

I was pretty sure I'd heard this right:

Things just got even more interesting for Tatum, Texas athlete Lennon Creer. The Miami Hurricanes, who have already picked up one commitment from the Lone Star state, may be closer to a second.

Lennon Creer has his sights set on Miami over the others at this point. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Creer has been given a deadline by Texas of June 4 to decide. While the Horns remained as a leader for some time, the Canes are now the newest team to beat for his services.
"Miami is at the top of my list," Creer said. "It's because I like the tradition, they win a lot of ballgames. I think I'd like it down there. I'll probably come down in June for the summer camp."
Those close to the situation have said that Miami is the favorite for Creer leading up to a decision. Apparently, the Canes have been a "dream school" and when they offered, his interest climbed even higher.
The deadline given to him from Texas has also had an effect.
"I didn't like that very much," Creer told Rivals.com Tuesday evening. "That was part of why things changed with my top schools. Miami left it open for me to decide." Stay tuned on this one.

Obviously we ended up with him.

I dont think we host a Summer drills camp, or 7 on 7, and we don't have a huge nationally focused Jr. Day like other powerhouses....so in reality if we get an Official Visit we usually have about 48 hrs to see a recruit on everything we can offer him (or her)...trying to be PC

We need to be on recruits early and often. Evaluate your needs identify your targets. Not taking time off! Fulmer is falling behind already. Can't afford to do this with all the compitition around us.

i read an article it actually may have been Fulmer's signing day wrap up and he said that the coaches would take a couple of days off and get started all over again for next years class.

Thank you for clearing that up I got it from another post and it wasn't clear exactly what he meant. Well maybe there is hope!
