Here is what I want in a coach.

This could be the bourbon talking but its when I do my best thinking. Instead of these risky and hopeful hires that we continue to fail at, I'd like to see UT put on some big boy pants and make a big boy move. The rise of Clemson football has a lot of correlation to the fall of UT football. We used to pull a lot of talent from S.C. Here's an idea. Go out and make huge news, raise the stakes at the poker table, and offer Dabo $15M per season. Dabo bringing success back to Knoxville, UT would more than recoup that money. College football has changed. If we want to get back in the mix again, we are going to have to go out and almost double a big name's salary to get back there. No more risky hires. No more hires with upside. No more hires where they learn on the job here.

I'd just like to see us quit playing footsy with these coaching hires and just go out and steal a big name. It's a crazy idea, but make him turn down that money. Ok, time for a refill.

Freeze I don’t think could even do ALL of that and he’s who I want the most. None of the typical names thrown around lately (Campbell, Fickell, Napier, Chadwell, Holiday, Edwards, Marrone, on and on and on) could sniff that kind of success.

it’d take an Urban Myer or Bob Stoop level hire to get that level of success with UT.

Urban Meyer would likely have far more success than what the OP listed here. He's coached 13 seasons in a conference with divisional football and won his division 10 times. He'd own Kirby Smart and it would take major Florida curse power not to own Mullen too. The rest of the division would likely be 0-fer against him.

Here I'll create a LinkedIn ad for you.

============================

TENNESSEE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

The head football coach will be responsible for running the football team and winning national titles in the FBS division of college football.

Requirements:
(*) Win national title with 15-0 record within 2 years
(*) Never have a season with more losses than the previous season
(*) Beat Alabama every year
(*) Beat Florida every year
(*) Beat Georgia every year
(*) Pull in #1 recruiting class every year
(*) If coach fails in any of these, must declare himself the worst coach in history and throw all players under the bus in press conference
(*) Fire any and every assistant who makes any mistake at any point

Perks:
High salary. If you fail at any of the above, $20 million buyout awaits.

============================

Is that good enough? Hopefully, my ad will be enough to fix every problem we've had over the past 13 years. If only someone had thought of this sooner!

This is what I want our next coach to be like, as in expectations.
1. Can beat Florida at least every other year.
2. Beat Georgia 2 out of every 3 years.
3. Play in the SEC championship 1 out of every 4 years.
4. Be in play off 1 out of every 4 years.
5. Make Tennessee Football a national staple for good.

Final thought would be when a good coach leaves for whatever reason we never settle for a dollar store coach again. Hire another good coach.
Hate to say this but make us like Ohio State, as in always replacing coaches with more good coaches. That place will never be down for as long as weve been down.
Just tired of this when their is no reason we should not have a good coach.

Go VOLS!!!
We were alotted one championship per millennium by the football Gods and it already happened. It’s all downhill going forward. Change your focus to basketball. We’re due one championship there.

Well that ain’t going to happen. Need to lower your expectations. If they wanted to coach again they have better options by far.
