Here is the rule as it is written

I was not called on the field though. Granted, they should have called it on the field, but I don't think it's reviewable. The officials at the end of the field where the helmet was thrown probably thought the game was over.

Too many men was never called on the field that I saw. Did anyone else see a yellow flag on the field?

guys i just watched the end of the game again...the ref in the back corner of the endzone pulled his flag out of his pocket before the ball was snapped so i dont think that the penalty was called due to a review

Your team played a good game. We should have lost because of our poor coaching at the end of the game. Good luck with the rest of your season.:peace2:

Exactly, they missed the call, therefore we got screwed. And it wasn't just one LSU player. The refs were intent on enforcing the rules at the end, and we got screwed.

So you want to win the game b/c the LSU players celebrated after they scored a TD and game was over? Awesome. Really classy.

Did you even watch the game? Clearly, you don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

I could be wrong but the clock had expired when the helmet was thrown. Anyway just be glad you don't have Les Miles as your coach.

QUIT BLAMING THE DARN REFS FOR THAT LOSS! 1st play of the game results in a TD. 2nd & 2 and Chaney throws for the endzone (should have been a pick). 4th & 19 and we send 4 players to blitz (old Chavis days). While ole Lester decides to sub with upteen seconds left and it dedongs in our heads that we will sub as well and it costed us the game. Look at the penalties, UT 3-10, LSU 9-54. I guess they were calling for us today, because if it was vice versa our fans would be claiming that the refs would be calling for them. We act like a bunch of Alabama fans and Kentucky basketball fans on this board blaming the officials. WE BEAT OURSELVES PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Screwed how? Didn't stop the QB from running up the middle of field on the first play of the game when we knew that he couldn't complete a pass? Put 13 players on the field -- how is that any better than putting 10 on the field? Or missing a FG that would have made the difference in the game? ELITE teams know how to start and finish -- we do not yet. Obviously.

We're not an elite team. We're an average team gunning for an upset. If we were elite, it wouldn't have been close. But having 13 men on the field at the end. . . ugh.

When you completely whiff on a couple of LSU players tossing their helmets in disgust it's hard not blame the officials. This is not an excuse, it's a fact.

My buddy says he saw a helmet with a "T" on it go flying across the screen too - can anyone confirm?

If we need a guy being penalized for throwing his helmet in disgust in order to win, we don't deserve to win.

It wouldn't have won us the game lol. There would still be a play left. It's obvious it should have been a dead ball foul.

We did not deserve to win the game. Because of that, we didn't win. Get over it, it's still gonna be a long season.

Live-Ball—Dead-Ball Fouls
ARTICLE 6. When a live-ball foul by one team is followed by one or more
dead-ball fouls (including live-ball fouls treated as dead-ball fouls) by an
opponent or by the same team, the penalties are administered separately and
in the order of occurrence (A.R. 10-1-6-I-V).

What it means is the "too many men on the field" call should have been enforced then the 15 yd personal foul for the "removal of the helmet" should have been enforced from that spot. We got screwed on that deal, period!

can you link this please? sorry i just want to read through the source

16 1/2 pt dogs with half the team never traveling for a road game before, At #10 LSU no less. As sick as I am for the players for this loss, you have to hand it to them.

I'm not calling it a moral victory. I am calling it a young and improving team.

Someone has to see some positive in that. If not you are just a confirmed Dooley hater or perpetual negavol.

he's saying the game's already over, nothing's going to change that score now, time to just move on

I really don't give a rip what he is saying. I said they deserved to win, to which he replied "if you say so", which would lead one to believe that he did not think they were deserving. I simply asked him a question. Are you two dating.

Ok - let's go to the replay. Tennessee has 13 on the field - half the distance to the goal. LSU player throws helmet - dead ball unsportsmanlike. Oh wait, entire Tennessee sideline runs on field - which would also be unsportsmanlike. You can't just twist it to our advantage. You could have found multiple fouls against both teams during that dead ball period if you wanted to. I seriously hope after the dust settles this nonsense stops being discussed.
