Here is the fact

People on this thread have already shown our problem
1. The big name coach may not want to come and money doesnt matter to him
2. Then you better hope the powers that be can spot the Dabo type
3. If the big name refuses to come then Currie better find someone who can put the pieces together and manage them...its doubtful everyone is going to be happy...but maybe there is a big name

I didnt say after the hired, i said after the press conference. I would be happy with him. But lots of people will buy in after the press conference. I dont think it will be Schiano. No way they hire him after some of the trouble be have had. But if irs Peterson, everyone will be happy. If its Brohm, Campbell, Frost etc, most will be pissed at first then buy in after the press conference

I agree, but it's Petersen.

By saying most you are being fallacious. The Dooley and Jones situations were different than now. Many fans are fed up with the absolute terrible hires that have happened since 2010. Many want a winning coach, a big time guy.

So saying most is just wrong. There will be plenty that will be happy with whomever is hired. However, I believe there will be much, much more who will be disgusted if yet another low ball coach is brought to Knoxville.

Cool, we shall see. My bet, threads will be progressively happy and stands will be full next year game one.

we will have to pick up a coordinator. There are no really good established coaches that are coming. The program has been in decline for 15 years.

Many seem to think it’s easy to get any coach they want. When money is fairly equal as it is now days at p5 schools, you have to have something else they want.

No it’s not easy, but it’s a helluva lot easier when you’re paying more than the rest as opposed to paying less

Nothing to do with a winning team but if the proposed tax law passes contributions to UT and other universities will decrease...especially as related to sports.

The problem, as others have said, is that you just don't whip out a checkbook, write the check and the coach comes.

It's not that simple (as Florida is finding out).

Some guys want to be in a certain area. Some guys are happy in their current job. Etc, etc, etc.

Not to mention, there is competition for the same people.

Very seldom do I agree with a gator - but this the truth. Many of these schools that have fired a coach are going to end up with a coach that is at the same level or not as good as the one they fired.

I think you wrong this time, this time the fans are looking for a proven winner. I see a mad rush to the exits if it’s some mid major that’s unproven.

If it turns out to be Petersen the everyone will be thrilled...hopefully it is true

S U N D A Y.................................:)

Did he not just get an extension and raise? He's not leaving where he is at if that is true.

Edited: That was Gary Patterson.

I know it is not popular but big time coaches already have a bank full of money and a few mil extra doesnt make any difference to them if they are happy...

You guys don't even consider what a coaches family might think....they may be very happy where they are and dont want to move....they got all the money they need...they are not all about money....BELIEVE IT OR NOT....

Family welfare and health > MONEY

I hope we can get the best...people seem to think its all about the money but it isnt...its about family and health...

I have said this time after time....write down your top 6 coaches and mark through the first four and you would be amazed at the percentage would be that the last 2 coaches on each llst...that one of the those last 2 would be the same.....
And it all depends on how far down the pecking order we have to go in order to find a coach

Totally agree and least we forget LSU has to settle for the interim HC last year - could not find anyone else.
