You're assuming our defensive energy would magically get better if we went to man. We were getting outworked in a zone but wouldn't in man? We don't even know what kind of perimeter defenders we have besides Richardson. He could shut down someone. Maybe whoever else is on the floor is good at playing man and denying entry passes. Hard to say for sure. I tend to think that when our whole team looked a step slow on defense already that going man isn't going to help you out.

With the zone, we were losing. With the zone, we were getting out worked. With the zone, curuso was able to run the team. Just sitting back and taking it as a loss is a defeatist mentality. Make the change and give your team a chance.

This team doesn't play man. Half the team would foul out and we would get killed inside. To do something your not really capable of or practicing is more stupid than staying with what you do. This team will be up and down all year based on inexperienced players. In reality coaching only goes so far ar some point you have to make plays and hit shots.

OK so if the zone is getting picked apart we should just chalk it up as a loss? GTFO with that. It is simple, if you are sucking you try to change it. You just don't take it up the butt and say well they are just better. That is a very participation award mentality you have there...

You are a clown. It doesn't matter what we would have done. They were making everything. We switched to man to man for a couple of series and they still man handled us. They came to play and we didn't. GTFO

You are wrong. Did you not watch the game today? A&M did it to us. Going to a zone through us off bad the first half. If you man up curuso it doesn't give him as many open passes to the lane.

I THINK IT IS YOU WHO IS WRONG. If one is playing against a zone, you must be able to do at least a few of the following. You must hit from outside, you must dive through the zone and dish off for a layup, pull up for a short jumper, finish to the rim and get fouled, or dish out for the open jumper.

We don't have a point guard who can drive into the middle of the zone, we don't have big men to rebound on the offensive board, a team that was thrown together during the summer, starting freshmen and transfers who have little experience and are learning a new system. Personally, I am amazed we are playing as well as we are. As I recall, we were picked next to last in the SEC preseason poll. This has been an outstanding coaching effort by CT.

So these items should negate a poor ability to adjust to the flow of a game? Those facts have nothing to do with Tyndall not doing his job. Throwing out a man defense when your players aren't playing your defense AT ALL is bad game management.

That's ridiculous....A man defense and this game is total blow out.....there is much more to playing man than saying I got this guy.

Good points...except I'm talking about us moving to a man defense. Your comments don't even match my argument...

Ooooo name calling, way to assert your point. How juvenile. In case you missed it, THEY WERE HITTING EVERYTHING BECAUSE NO ONE WAS AROUND THEM. But yes let's stick with the zone and let em shoot open jumpers.

My take. We need more guys stepping up in the scoring zone. I think Hubbs is starting to blossom and the more he starts carrying the scoring mentality the better off we'll be. When he starts being aggressive in the beginning of games, he'll take the pressure of Richardson! :clapping:

They weren't capable of playing a zone today either...

Either way you look at it, whether it be a lack of adjustment or not being ready to play, Tyndall dropped the ball.

It's going to happen. You don't play your best every game, and as a coach, you hope you play well enough in those games to win. Unfortunately, this team can't win games when they don't play well. We are relying on several guys who have very little to no D1 experience. It is clear that Tyndall is just wanting to not get beat inside and force outside shots. Danuel House is a big addition to that team. Without him, I think A&M may not even be average.

I sure don't want to enter a spitting contest but I've watched this team overachieve so much this year already....and lets face it....for our team to win this year we MUST knock down three's, go to the free throw line a bunch (and shoot at least 80% from the FT line), get a fair share of Offensive stick back points, and HOPE the other team isn't knocking down three's and playing at a very high level throughout the game...that's pretty much what did us in today....of course the frantic last 5 minutes might skew the numbers a bit but it didn't fall in our favor today....and I might suggest we prob have a few more of these games waiting on us this year....

No it has been completely zone I have watched every game. It may have been a different type of zone but it was still a zone. Tyndall was not out coached the team was outplayed.

No he's done it in one of the first 5 games. Only for a series or two

So, I agree OP, CDT got out coached today and the players for whatever reason didn't seem to have the energy until it was too late.

Outcoached? We're a two-legged stool with no inside game. The fact that we're 12-6 means CDT did it with mirrors.

Outcoached...LMAO.

Even If true no way you do it today that's just bad coaching.

Why? Because we were playing well and they weren't getting all the uncontested shots they wanted...o wait. No, getting drubbed and sticking with the same plan that is getting you beat is bad coaching. It's like saying I'm going to drink all the soda I want. Then your metabolism drops, and you keep drinking the soda and expect to stay as skinny as you were.

I think we looked like a tired team today. All of these minutes from lack of depth has to be taking its toll and will only get worse as the season progresses. Size does matter also and we probably would have had what bigs, if you can call them that, we have all foul out. You go with what got you there especially if there's no other viable choice.

Plain and simple this team is overachieving and its killing us as fans. We want the quick fix. But what we need is a couple more years of better recruiting. We need a couple 8 to 9 RPG guys. We need a point guard. We need 6'8 guys over 185. We need this CDT mess settled. And we need spring practice to get here quickly. By the way. In the game thread before tip off. I predicted game score. A&M 67 Vols 62. I know what I is talkin bout.

There is no magic defense that could have stopped TX A&M. They easily had the four best insude players on the court. The thing that impressed me most about their bigs was how well they passed and handled the ball. They also got a ton of rebounds over our guys even though they were boxed out. They managed to get the rebounds over our guys and were NOT fouling. Some days you're just going to get beat.
