Here is my CFA-Bowl UT offensive preview:

Good read B-ST. I'm not a player or a coach but I think you confirmed our winning this. Thanks.

Here is how I see it unfolding:

Both offenses have the advantage. However the UT offense enjoys the bigger vis-a-vis edge. Never thought I'd type that in a Bowl game with 4+ weeks of film-study with the surnames of: Foster and Poppa-Kiffin involved.

That said; VT special-teams could easily negate all of that.
Which has me back pretty close to even. Mild advantage to UT right now. Though I rate that as 1 full play (7 points) or less. This is my cutoff point for calling a game a toss-up or whatever other even sports cliche.

I will study your'alls special-teams more on Monday; then make my pick. Might even go for an O.T. call.

I am already resigned to the fact that this game is going into overtime. As I've said on this board and other boards, this is a 50/50 game if I've ever seen one. Anything could happen and I won't be surprised. Something tells me it will be decided in OT.

The blog mentions Crompton's low point of release on his passes. Fair warning should go to VT's line. Crompton throws the ball so hard that I wouldn't want my hand or arm to be in the way of one of his passes that close to the line.

Was that the AU or USC game that Crompton busted Warren up side the head with a pass just past the line of scrimmage? VT has been warned.

Sorry, I meant to ask in the post above:

Bourbon:

Aside from the stars on VT's offense and defense that we all know about, and excluding the Special Teams in general, who or what do you see as Tech's "X" factor in this game?

In other words, if TT and RW are held in check and there are no blocked punts/fg, etc., is there a player that could step up and have a huge game for VT that could make all the difference?

For UT, I think it is Janzen Jackson on D. He has the potential to lay some heavy, turnover causing licks. Obviously, he is most known outside of UT for the Pilot robbery connection. While the pregame focus heavily favors all things Eric Berry (deservedly so), JJ is my X factor.

Graves at Dt has 3-4 blocked kicks on his career. Very good at such; and his bad ankle should be much improved with 4+ weeks off. Him; and we might just have the best KO-Return guy in the nation in one D.Roberts.

The other will be Bowl Prep:
Frank has been to 17 straight bowls. He has gone both too hard and too soft as Bowl practices go. LK is a rookie; at least as the head-honcho goes. It is my long-standing experience that rookie HC's get too excited in their 1st bowl. They must make a statement; they must win in contract negotiating or renewal terms.

If anything LK's practices have been very physical; perhaps too physical.

I'll have more on this on Tuesday on ESPNRadio at 4pm. You gentlemen can listen in for FREE right here:

Looks like we will start either Hosley or Hill as Virgil's replacement. You guys should hope that it is Hill; that's how I'll put it.
