Fulmer isn’t getting the final say or a heavy position in hiring the new guy. I don’t know how many times multiple media members have to state this before people understand it.

Idk how many multiple media members have demonstrated in the past that they don’t know wtf they’re talking about. And I hope against all hope I’m wrong but I expect another lackluster hire.

The Steele and Marrone rumors are the DC and OC hires for a Freeze HC hire.

Now that we have that out of the way. I honestly believe its more likely the powers that be are building a staff for a Tee Martin HC hire. I think Fulmer is wanting a UT guy with UT support that the fans will give a LOOOOOOOONGGGGG leash, while being the coach in proximity.

Flame away, but lets see what happens...

NO on T Martin

Still doesn’t change the desperate need for Fulmer to be unemployed. Hell...we ought to have a general policy about refusing to employ anyone who worked under Hamilton.

That wouldn’t surprise me but I don’t think it will be Fulmers lol

I disagree. Head coach and coordinator are two different skill sets. Some coaches are good in either role while others excel in one or the other. I'm not saying Tee will be a great head coach but we really won't know until he gets the opportunity.
I have seen no evidence that Tee is the kind of administrator, organizer, or innovator that would make him a great head coach. He has been put in positions to succeed and while he hasn't failed, his performance hasn't been anything spectacular. I don't see anything better that just okay. Maybe someone else does. FWIW I don't think Peyton would be a good HC either. Same with Heath, Ainge, Al Wilson...

Hell Tee couldn't even get the head coaching job at South Alabama...no way he is even close to being a head coach at Tennessee and if he is hired in such a role every single person in that department needs to be fired.

That should just about finish the burial of Tn football. We had a decent run though.

For your sake and the sake of Tennessee football, I hope you are way, way off.
See man, that’s how far we’ve fallen. A gator fan and s wishing us well. Can’t we go back to the times when both teams were good, fans were throwing cups of piss on each other, and we just genuinely hated each other.

Marrone would certainly understand a bad football team. He wouldn’t run from it.

It doesn’t matter to Fulmer that Tee wasn’t good enough for USA. Fulmers way is infallible and the rest of us just need to get out of the way while he works like heck.

I love Tee as a player and as a person, but I personally wouldn’t give him a super long leash. This program needs a coach that can get the train back on track within 3 seasons. Is Tee that guy? With the right staff maybe. But if we still suck three years under his leadership I’ll be griping.

I can's see Marrone as a college coordinator. I think he stays in the NFL. No way, no how would I hire Tee as the head coach. He's been lackluster at both USC and UT as a co-coordinator and as a position coach. If UT hires him, we might as well burn the whole thing down and leave it as a pile of ashes.

Hiring Tee describes why we are where we are. Fire Fulmer in 2008, bring in Kiffin, Dooley, Butch, Pruitt to present time and we are still a train wreck. Our most proven coaching hire in 13 years was a failed NFL coach with the Raiders that went 5-15. Leadership starts at the top, hire the right coach you win games. Tee isn't it at this time.

I’d give Freeze 4 years. Or Herman, Malzahn or Chadwell. Hell I’d give Jason Wittens brother 4/5 years.
I hate to break it to you, but 4 years isn't enough to fix the dumpster fire and mess we've got right now. At best, 5-6 years will get us back to our winning ways. I would say 2 to stabilize. 2 more to get the recruits the next coach needs to truly be successful. Then 1 to 2 more until we get back to a winning circuit. I'm not saying you think this, but anyone thinking that a new coach is going to come in and within Year 2 he's competing for the East, is sadly mistaken.

Also, if we did go the high school route, I would 100% be on board with Witten from Elizabethton. That man can coach. He's shady and I'm not so sure we'd be under investigation real quick, but he's a great Xs and Os guy. Not saying we need to do this, just saying that if, for whatever reason, it fell this low, he'd be one to look at.

So, we hire Dooley(A losing coach before coming here), Kiffin (an inexperienced HC), Butch (the only winning HC we have hired), and Pruitt (absolutely zero experience as a HC).

You want to continue that trend by hiring Tee, who has never been a HC and hasn't even really been an OC, just because he played at UT?

Am I the only one that thinks this is a horrible decision?

NO!!

Hey man Tee might just end up being a great head coach. He might be just what Tennessee needs right now. I know it's a long shot but if he does get the job we have to get behind him and hope for the best.
I might just grow wings and fly to the moon..Tee is not a HC, might as well stay with Cornbread
