Since obviously this "new system" so far I would have to say has been a major failure....

Why wouldnt Fulmer revert back to the plays or playbook from last year that dam near everyone on the team would know...instead of continuing to go out each week and execute absolutely nothing....At least start calling enough plays from last years offense that would balance it out....:banghead2:

because changing the entire offensive scheme in the middle of the season is usually a bad thing......

Cut took it with him....all CPF has is something Al Saunders left behind and he doesn't understand it.

That would only work if we had last year's QB. Neither of the two guys who have taken snaps this year would succeed under any system.

we are not exectuing at all on offense. there is no rythym, very little balance, no creativity, no getting matchups. that was the biggest part i was excited about with this offense, it was supposed to get 1 on 1 matchups (mismatches actually) and get jones on a safety or a lb trying to cover briscoe out of the slot. clawson is not doing a good job at all, im not terribly dissapointed in his playcalling, i am really unhappy with his scheme. he is not getting our recievers in favorable mismatches, he is not making our offense balanced and it just seems that he thinks hes calling a high school game or something.

I have seen numerous examples of receivers running wide open downfield but we don't have a QB who can get the ball to them. To say the offense is a failure without giving credit to the QB play is crazy

I hear ya Hat...but surely at the worst Crompton would know some of what was done last year....and the receiver would remember their routes...Yeah last years offense was Cuttys, but Fulmer knows it and it was basically the same thing we have ran for years here...with a few exceptions like all the quik bubble screens....

And IM not talking about changing up the entire offense..just running stuff the offense would be familiar with execution wise instead of this cluster *&^$ we have out ther now

It appears to me we are running Fulmers offense now. It looks the same as it did 10 years ago. I think the better idea is to really let Clawson run his offense.

This is NOT Fulmers offense...What is Fulmer is the conservative stuff we see (like having Lincoln kik a 90 yrd field goal on 4th and 1 at midfield)....What we are seeing on Saturdays is Clawsons offense....or lack of...which is exactly why I started this thread...Fulmer is a good play caller...or has been at least...

Watching our offense is like watching paint dry.

I agree, because we have yet to actually see this guys offensive schemes, because CPF has his hand in the cookie jar.

Yeah, that is what I meant. This offense is not that much different than what we have seen for years, IMO. It is obvious Phil has Clawson handcuffed, but Clawson is getting all the blame. Other than adding a FB I think our offense looks pretty much the same as last years. The difference is, we had a QB that could get rid of the ball very quickly. However, he was pressured a lot. Our OL was bad last year. That is why we passed almost every down. Our OL and inexperience at QB is hurting us.

I dis-agree....I dont think what we have seen has been Fulmer or at least "all" Fulmer. Why would Fulmer hire a new OC, not let him call his own plays, and then go out on Saturdays and completely make an idiot out of himself calling his "own" plays....meanwhile the new OC sits up there and does nothing...I think Fulmer has been here so long that obviously we know we are still watching Tennessee football and it seems familiar, but what our players are doing out there now is NOT typical stuff we have seen from Fulmer for years...I've been a vol since 1971, this is by far the worst I have ever seen us look....there is a big difference between the way we look now and last year...obviously because Cut is gone...but if what your saying is true...then all we ever saw with Cut was Fulmer calling the plays...same as now with Clawson...I see a difference...

Right about that. Our two qb's are so bad that the fans get giddy if one can perform without falling over his own feet or is able to hand the ball off to the running back. Sad indeed.
