Helton a Joke of a Play Caller

Helton is learning on the job and Pruitt is a defensive coach who probably wants an old school power run game. Not a good combo. Especially with the line problems.
That's actually a pretty astute observation. First time OC and HC and the HC doesn't know offense.

I said early in the season that JG plays like he's bottled up. Don't know if it's him or the playcalling but something needs to change.

Heck, we've had plenty of QBs that couldn't read a defense. Anyone can step back and throw a go route or two.

You might get a PI call. Heck, you might even complete one.

Pruitt is trying to run Alabama smashmouth football with current TN caliber players. This is what the fans wanted. Until the recruiting improves this is what we are. Sometimes you have to be creative, use smoke and mirrors to hide your deficiencies. Our staff doesnt either want to do that or arent up to the task.

Callaway and Jennings should be touching the ball 10 times a game each. Stop the short routes and take some shots downfield
QB would be flat on his back every play. But I agree. Might as well try

I'm not saying Helton is or isn't a good OC but I'm constantly amazed that the idiots come on blaming coaches after 4 1/2 games. Let's go ahead and queue up the next coach is terrible thread.

Maybe there is a different reason the offense can't move the football very well. After all we only scored 24 against UTEP and you don't need imagination on offense against them.

He has an inept QB and a porous line. He’s doing best he can with what he has to work with.
That is absolutely hilarious. There is a ton more he can do with that inept qb (that is actually pretty good) and that porous Oline. But when you are basic and don’t use what will work with what you have, it will make you look worse than u truly are

Not a great time to have an offensive coordinator who is learning in the job. Might have considered someone with some experience in that seat.

That is my stance on Pruitt's philosophy too.

It doesn't work with our oline.

So what do you recommend? We roll the pocket and JG can’t make a throw to the receiver.

We drop back and JG stares down the WR....

Listen, i know we are down right now on talent but the play calling from this so-called great offensive coordinator is atrocious. It’s so predictable it’s almost a joke at this point. Run, run, screen. And if we don’t run on first or second down it’s SHOCKER screen pass. Safe to say our offensive playmakers besides our back are Jennings, Palmer, and Callaway yet we can’t get them the ball more than 2 yards past line of scrimmage.

And yes the Oline sucks but good grief we can throw downfield passes.

I heard the same thing about Chaney when he was the OC at TN. Yet he's thriving at GA.
