You know, it's fascinated me why the US has a different definition of "Liberal" than the rest of the world. (In the rest of the world, liberalism or neoliberalism is a Friedmanite view of economics: the destruction of mixed economies, resource pillaging, cutting social safety net, etc.)
It was actually FDR, I think: liberalism is "plain English for a changed concept of the duty and responsibility of government toward economic life."
