It also helps your buying power if you either have the cash without financing, or go through your bank before hand. Ive been able to buy cars about 5-6k less that sticker due to a cash offer instead of using their financing.

That's what I meant about bank finance. Usually I can get a price range and rate from the bank in an hour or 2 especially if I know some models.

Bank usually gives me a better rate anyway. I'm paying 2.99% right now through my credit union. Hard to get that from a dealer on a used car, I'd imagine. You could get a 0% APR offer on a new car, but I'm not sure I've heard of those sorts of deals on a used car.

I've got a clear line of credit for 25k. Thought about just writing one check and be done. That forces me to pay it off quickly, rather than having payments for several years. I suppose I could also go to the bank and get a loan without using the loc, which I have as a safety net. I just don't like borrowing or owing money, and I really don't want to finance through the car company.

-used
-less than 40k miles
-satellite radio, or I can use the portable one i have, but the antenna is a hassle
-would love a sedan or sexy 4 door car, but I think I need to stay with a truck of some sort. Too much windshield time in my life and the lower back needs as much help as possible.
-don't want as big as a suburban, etc, but don't want a little rinky dink one either
-tbh, I've always kindof wanted a Nissan Titan, but if the mpg is really low, I just don't need to do it.

Ford F-150 with four real doors. I can seat an extended family of midgets, and with the EcoBoost the mpg isn't as bad.

Also holds value pretty well.

Read my checklist. It's where to start to find used models in a price range. It will replicate availabilty in your area. They also give you a high and low price to angle for. Then you go from there to the private market or dealerships.

just had a friend bring me a j. Think I'm going to smoke it, go get that cash and go to the Nissan dealer to trade in my car for whatever they will give me and walk out with a car within 2 hours. I don't have time to mess with this stuff.

**** started my day off bad. Then Stevie took off like a greyhound and I looked like Steve Prefontaine's retarded brother trying to chase that fast ************ down.

Gotta get this done, and would rather get it done before my wife finds out, gets home and on the computer and delays this **** by about 2 weeks while she checks every suggestion I make and calls @ 5 girlfriends to ask them about their cars.

smoking a J? get outta here! wtf~!

If you gonna be all this way, go to Darrel Waltrip Honda. Ask for Billy in sales. Tell him that Jackson from Winchester sent you. He will fix you up!

I think Billy may have retired? If so, ask for Billy's retirement...lol!

Good luck!
