2016 – FRESHMAN
Appeared in six games as a true freshman…made one catch for 13 yards versus Tennessee Tech – the first reception of his career…had a 62-yard punt return touchdown against Tennessee Tech and finished with two punt returns for 114 yards versus the Golden Eagles…his 62-yard punt return touchdown was the first by a Vol freshman since Devaun Swafford brought a blocked punt back 15 yards in 2013…made his collegiate debut at South Carolina on Oct. 29, 2016.
Except he was pretty good at it and played in 6 games. This hindsight about saving redshirts gets ridiculous. I don't think 5th year seniors are what we really need to competeI guess that makes a little more sense. But it seems like we could have combed the roster a little more for a punt returner to save a guy’s eligibility.

We've just never been able to get our players to year 4-5 and not transferred or significantly injured for the past two coaches. Seems Pruitt got a better handle on this, but WHO on this board wants to wait it out another couple years when we're on year 12 of stinking up the joint, w/ a couple marginally enjoyable years w/ Butch?Yeah...
Good young talent that is ready to contribute and change outcomes.
But...
It's really good when you have 4th year and 5th year guys that have split snaps most of their career then turn into the primary option or "starter" in their last year. Physically they are just stronger than the other team.
Mizzou and their DL are an example of that.
They're always rolling out some big powerful disruptive DL that's just been getting partial snaps for 2 or 3 years and they explode year 4 or "5".

I think Pruitt and crew are up to the task, but is imperative to show some pretty good progress in year 2, for momentum purposes.
