Helmet Throwing.

Yeah right, like sp Rocky Goode is not going to protect his crew by making up some bogus with all zeros on the field the crew made the right " no call ". I also really enjoy watching the " no call " when Simms gets his helmet ripped off on the 3rd down play.

does this correlate to Cody when he took his helmet off and that was a play when the ball was down. is it the same thing as that?

In this case the game was not over. It should have either been offsetting penalties and tenn wins or dead ball 15 yard penalty and lsu gets one play from the 15 yard line. Either way it was very poor execution by all parties involved. Both coaching staffs and especially the refs.

So were any helmets thrown before the play was blown dead? The only helmet I see thrown happens after the play was dead...

The one I saw was right after the play was dead. So I think it should have been one play for lsu from the 15.

The LSU center took his helmet off (all he has to do) before the play was dead. Should've been penalized on the review as any penalties (except pass interference in some cases) are reviewable and can be called once a review is initiated.

It seems like we always get the short straw when it comes to penalizing helmet throwers.

Tennessee Volunteers vs. LSU Tigers - Recap - October 02, 2010 - ESPN

Via ESPN:
"Several LSU players threw their helmets in disgust."

-Everyone but the refs saw it.

Everyone but the refs and the entire UT nation and ESPN also missed the UT players throwing their helmets and running from the sideline into a live play (UT actually had 15 players on the field by the time that play was dead). In fact UT #42 throws his helmet on the field in the same shot as LSU's player throws his. You can also see two UT players entering the field of play from the sideline exactly at the same time as T-Bob tosses his helmet.

As UT fans should be well familiar with after a certain Bama game - helmet tossing is assessed as if it were a dead ball foul, regardless of whether it occurs during the play or not. Thus there would be multiple penalties on BOTH teams for helmet tossing, resulting in offsetting dead ball fouls. The illegal participation penalty by UT does not offset though because it happened during the play. Thus LSU would have still had the ball 1st and goal at the 1.

Why did the UT sideline pour out onto the field?
It should have either been offsetting penalties and tenn wins or dead ball 15 yard penalty and lsu gets one play from the 15 yard line.

Why should only LSU get a dead ball foul? Its not against the rules for the Tennessee players to take their helmets off, and for players coaches and staff from Tennessee's sideline to take the field when - as you said - the game was not over?

Les Miles is just happy to find out there is actually an SEC coach dumber than him.

people really need to let the whole helmet issue go. the game was basically over when he took it off, and hardly any ref is going to call that at that point in the game.

You lost all credibility with that statement. It was his own confusion that led to this mess in the first place. He is a national championship winning coach playing against an unranked, .500 team...at HOME!

Should our coaches have handled it differently? Yes. But we have a first year staff in their 5th game of the season. Not too mention the 1st road game of the year with 50% of a roster that had never traveled for a game.

Don't even dare to begin comparing Les Miles' intelligence to any other SEC coach, without a question Les Miles is clueless, end of story.

You talk as if it should have been a sure win for LSU. Have you watched LSU's offense play this year at all? No, you haven't, because no one has - they more or less haven't had a pulse. The defense is stellar to be sure but UT was going up against the 115th ranked passing offense in the nation.

I hope all of you Vols took UT with the 16 1/2 points, anyone who has watched LSU play at all this year knows that spread was way off.

UT had two losses going in but they were to top 2 teams. Honestly I think UT is better than their record reflects and you vols should have a pretty good rest of the season.

And apparently none of them watched the ending of the LSU-Ole Miss game. Its Les Miles with a running clock and the need to get a play off in time - of course LSU was going to screw that one up, all UT needed to do was stay on the field with 11 players and it would have been in the bag.

Dooley is apparently more clueless. Even retard Leslie Miles has never been flagged for 13 men on the field.

Oh well, at least a week when Coach Who Shall Not Be Named looses in disgrace can't be all bad. Plus the Bama balloon continues to hyper inflate, just LOOKING for some lowly unranked team to pull the Upset of the Century sometime in the near future.:whistling:

Miles can't even spell his own name when you spot him the L and the S.
Face it.....you have an intelectually challenged ape coaching your program and driving it into the swampy bowels of the arm pit of America that is known as Baton Rouge.

FWIW, multiple LSU fans addressed me as we all walked away from the stadium and said they wanted OUR coach. They were disgusted.
