You have absolutely no clue how their discussion went. It could've been a million reasons why he wasn't hired.
But hey, spin your little BS statements of hate and negativity.

either do you. Whats your take genius? But it is a fact that CBJ is thin skinned and very insecure. He is not going to hire someone that wants to make any changes or improvements to his system.

No Hate or negativity at all.

I just want the vols to win, be elite again. IMO Butch can't get out of his own way to get us there.

I think it's just the perceived lack of experience that has everyone's jimmies rustled.

It is interesting how much information was out there last year about hiring Shoop but with this hire nobody knows ****.

So much made up non-sense in this thread haha. He was never coming to UT. It was nothing more than a conversation that people ran with just like Gruden. Butch is not on the hot seat no matter how much some of you want to believe it is true or repeat it like a broken record. UT is simply unwilling to spend the type of money that it takes to get big time assistants on a regular basis. People point to the Shoop hire as if it is a trend UT is starting, several assistants in the SEC now make over 1 million dollars. The AD at UT is incompetent and will continue to be incompetent until it hires individuals who are serious about winning in football. It doesn't matter how many times it is repeated or dreamed up by posters on this board. The AD is and continues to be highly fractured.

Not saying that

But are you willing to bet your career at UT on a guy who has never been an OC?

I can hear the grinding and gnashing of teeth as the Negavols tear Butch's flesh from his bones. :)

Name the quarterbacks he's developed. Name the OC positions he's held.

Scott would not coach qb's. He would call plays, ya know kinda like what Tee Martin has done. A QB coach will be hired though. Will be interesting to see who it is.

The link didn't say anything. Nobody has been hired, helfrich hasn't been eliminated. It literally doesn't present anything other than opinion. Maybe if volnation would quit assuming everyone is an insider with facts it wouldn't get so disappointed when these made up scenarios don't work.

If CBJ wasn't going to get a big name come in, it would have been better to keep Debord and get a QB coach to replace CZA.

Same BS with CBJ. Can't get his ego out of the way to hire a prolific OC/QB. I'm betting he goes in house and we continue to under develop players.

go on with yourself Butchie, Keep digging that hole to unemployment.

helfrich's last team was 4 wins and 8 losses...why would you want him?

No body good is gonna come coach at UT when Butch is a dead man walking and will most likely be fired after a poor showing next year and a new AD.

Butch has lost his cache or I should say he never had it but was good at lying.

What in your mind is a poor showing? And, other than just your opinion, what has he been lying about?

I do not think anybody has said Scott is a terrible coach or trash. He's great at what he does with TEs and recruiting. I think a lot of people are feeling that we do not have the luxury of taking the chance to allow him to be a first time OC at Tennessee. We would like to see a more proven guy come in and take the reins to have an immediate impact. Scott may turn in to a great OC, but there's a lot of questions and risks involved if we promote him. But as many have alluded to, it is Butch's offense and he's probably not going to turn over control of it to a high profile guy.

The issue I have is that Scott wants to become a head coach, what happens if we promote him and then next year he takes off for a HC job? Also, Butch has talked about the OC guy being somebody who has QB development experience, Scott does not. Unless he promotes within and brings on a QB coach, which he might, it seems that he wants an OC/QB guy to take DeBord's position on the staff.

The Shoop hire was different because it was defense. Butch has always had control over the offense and I doubt he'll let anybody come in and take control over his offense. But I hope he does for the sake of the program. I'm much more concerned with the OL and DB coaching positions though.
