jones has to keep total control, there will be only yes men moving forward. He will never give up control to anyone else on any aspect of this team. Its just who he is.

Of course it is. Butch doesn't want any OC to bring anything outside the scope of his system. No matter how much it might help. Butch's ego makes him want to micro manage everything and no good coach is going to sing up for that.

Seriously you need blue font on this stuff. CBJ would hire a guy with no coaching experience just because Zach was his (pretty good) QB during CBJ's time at Cincy? I cant imagine you are doing anything other than trolling here. :thud:

If I were a betting man, I would bet on an in house hire. Butch has shown a degree of insecurity and a thin skin. I simply cannot believe he would hire anyone that could be perceived as a replacement in waiting so Helfrich was a pipe dream. It will be a young, up and coming OC from another program but one that is still considered too raw to assume the head coaching position or he will promote from within and fill that spot.

And you know this from the hours, nay years of personal interaction with the man? You've worked for him? No? Then how do you know these intimate things about someone whom you've never met.

It doesn't actually matter who he hires as offensive coordinator. Next year is a one year audition with the new athletic director. Most potential hires will know that, so don't be surprised if there aren't many big names on board.

Just pay Jim Bob...If he'd come, he's got the right "home grown" resume, and support of Peyton.

Cooter served as a graduate assistant for Tennessee in 2007 and 2008. He was then hired as an offensive assistant by the Indianapolis Colts, working for them from 2009 through 2011. He served as the offensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012, and then joined the Denver Broncos as an offensive assistant in 2013 with the support of Peyton Manning. The Lions hired Cooter as their quarterbacks coach in 2014. After the season, they denied a request of the Chicago Bears, who wanted to interview him for their offensive coordinator position.
The Lions promoted Cooter to offensive coordinator during the 2015 season, after former offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi was fired midseason

He's the head coach of a top 20 school, of course he's going to be allowed to choose his guys. This isn't High school football. Grow up.

Sounds like this guy is using LWSVOL post as his source. Heck maybe it is LWSVOL.

Butch has a lot riding on this hire if it doesn't work he will be gone and he knows it.

For me I don't think the offense is an issue, it worked well for the most part. It was paly calling at critical times that was the issue. Find someone to clean that up and I will be happy. I will be mad if he hires someone that would come in and try to change the offense as our roster was recruited for it. Like going from a 4-3 D to a 3-4.

I just figured it out. Scott as OC and Butch looking to MB as QB coach. I think that's the goal for Butch.

I keep seeing that we don't have an active AD in place. This article even says it. Dave Hart is still there until June so you would think he is working until he leaves. I know he is a lame duck and all but surely he is still pulling the strings. Gotta love TN.
