ALLVOL i know what this thread is about and do you know what Fulmer said??? was it something that needed a response?? Or was it something that stuck in Hefney's mind that being why he did not make a similar mistake throughout the rest of the game? answer me that

The potential for a touchback isn't the only reason you don't field punts inside your own 5 yard line...it's also a boneheaded idea because of the position you put yourself in with a muffed catch. If Hefney had muffed the handle on that catch those two PSU players you're speaking of may have regained possession inside the 5.

Hefney didn't need to stop and chat with Fulmer. It's not like Fulmer was waiting for Hef to get to the sideline and say, "Hef, we need to talk." No, he said what he wanted to say, and Hefney moved on. That's it. All this analyzation is a little over the top.

THis is being way over anlyzed. If my coach was yelling at me, i wouln't want to say anything back. That would just make him more angry.
If I was going to say anything it would have been "My Bad". Heck Heffney might have even said that.

k-sny-vol i don't know it sounds as if like we have 10 board members standing next to fulmer down there so they know what happened

Not sure anyone has posted they know Fulmer's comments. But I did see Hefney stroll on by.

maybe you don't know the whole story though.. they may have been the correct action to take how do you know he was wrong strolling by??

The ball was going to hit at about the 2 1/2 yard line. If it is allowed to hit, that ball goes into the endzone for a touchback probably 9 out of 10 times.

He made a mistake. A good coach would give some instruction in this case. Some eye to eye, stand still and look in my face instruction. So he either snubbed Fulmer or Fulmer doesn't know when a player needs some instruction.

if he was out of the way they would have just caught it no doubt!! they were behind him and SAW the ball

From that point on Hefney put his heels on the 10 on punts. Did you not notice that or are you deliberately choosing to ignore that small fact?

Yeah . . . CPF obviously "reminded" him about the 10 yard line and Hefney didn't have a problem for the rest of the game. The sideline is not quite the lawless jungle some would have you believe.

Agree 100%. Hefney didn't completely ignore him. He acknowledged it and kept going. I think Fulmer got his point across.

Well the thought went through my mind during the game. So not sure how that makes it selective perception after a loss.
