I hate that for him. I think his height has really screwed his chances in the NFL.

not surprised. but hate to see it. I've never seen someone at ut drop off from his junior season to his senior

Good example of why I think you should always leave early if possible. Wasn't he projected as like a 3rd round pick after his junior year?

eek.....I don't know.....it's hard to go with being only a 3rd round projection...injuries are always a concern, of course...but leaving with that projection seems risky too.

Exactly what I was thinking. Unless there were money issues, I would come back for sure.

Sucks for Hef. He's a talented kid, but something when wrong his senior year with us... looks likes its still with him, whatever it is.

Thought this would eventually happen...but this early. Wow, though break. Best of luck to him in whatever he does with his life.

Whoa? What's Gruden thinking this guy "reminded" people of Bob Sanders. This can't be real.

I vaguely recall being lectured to on this board as to how great Hefney was while here and how he was playing out of position and how expectations were placed upon him.

They cut him to make room for White. Maybe another team will have room for him. ...Of course, if he was drafted, they would be looking for someone else to cut....So, the '07 season did actually hurt him in terms of being a signed vs unsigned....

Who else would you compare him too?

After his senior campaign I wouldn't compare him to anyone that has atleast stepped on the NFL football field Preseason and beyond.

Simply saying a guy "looks" like someone in respects to size and build is ridiclious in sports. I know it's done for a mental image, but many people including many here, can't seperate that "picture painting" from a scout and the actual skill set. Saying, "He looks like Bob Sanders, until he sits down when someone with the ball is running at him", would be a little better assesment of the situation.

I have a friend that "looks like Bill Gates". He delivers pizzas for Papa Johns.

Heffney wasn't very good at UT. He was a liability more than an asset. How can you argue against that?
