Sports Illustrated gettin it started early in the week. I was wondering when Kiffin's comments about Urbie/FLorida would be slathered back up with blinking neon lights. There's already a story link under "TOP STORIES" on SI, mixed in with all of the breaking news stories. I guess CUM finally decided he was ready to talk about it. Get ready boys. This week is gonna get worse.

Is it possible that those million and one stories might be RIGHT?

if meyer is "fairly close" w/ monte kiffin as that thing says; then we're definitely not seeing the 70 point offensive game that some of you guys are worrying about

Its possible. We'll see after this week i guess. If Crompton starts, i'll probly just turn the game off b/c it'll be too much to bear

Ya know, it is college football.

The kids get a college education out of it (sometimes) and have a blast playing a game (if they're smart). The coaches get paid to coach the game of football with kids that out grew their highschool pads. The sponsors get to have their logo's put in prominent places for millions of fans to see. The media gets to capitalize on those sponsors when they say and write things that make people wanna read and watch. And the fans get entertained.

CUM isn't a two year old and neither are the guys that play for him. Kiffin isn't anything but a man who coaches a college football team, and he's got a mouth like the rest of us. And the writers reporting the stuff between the two are making big bucks off the whole thing.

if Florida can score 70, then they should do it

If the situation was reveresed, I would want CLK scoring as many as possible against not only Florida, but the rest of the SEC as well

I agree, in this league you better get what you can when you can.

I would have hoped that this question had long been answered. Lane purposely drew attention to the program, albeit sometimes negatively, to gain national attention and exposure for recruiting. We ended up with a couple of high-profile guys that didn't even have us on their list.

Sure the talking looks worse after yesterday's game, but its purpose has already been served and it seems to me that Lane's been pretty quiet lately.

The facts are that we still have a stellar coaching staff that will maximize the talent we have and that it will take time. Yes, I did see the UCLA game and it's difficult to see that as an improvement in coaching or talent maximization. As fans, let's show continued support and some warranted patience. I still believe that Lane is the right guy for the job and that if we resist the temptation to judge him after every play or every game, the results will be positive. Let's wait until he has enough of a body of work to properly evaluate.

Go Vols

yeah but meyer's not spurrier; he's not going to alienate or run up the score on someone he's either friendly with or holds a great amount of respect for just for some chuckles and light from the media.

As much as Kiffin does play the media, I think if the situation were reversed he too wouldn't run up the score, cause that's just a jerkish thing to do and while he runs his mouth, he's not a jerk

You would want them to run up the score mainly b/c you dont like Florida I would think

While I think Kiffin's remarks were meant to be harmless - just trying to excite a fanbase - I think he should have used better judgement in choosing his words.

In others words, he meant no harm, but that doesn't matter to Florida. I don't think Kiffin understood yet how words like that are played on in the SEC. Given the opportunity to take the words back, I'm sure he would.
