First, thanks to those already posting congrats to us Florida fans on the game thread. Very classy of you. I thought your team showed tremendous emotion and some great play calling and execution made this game closer in score than it might appear in the box tomorrow morning.

This was an excruciating game to watch. It felt like Florida really dominated between the 30's. But we missed the two field goals and had some penalties and what not and the Vols had a two score lead going into the 4th. But coming back to overcome some adversity and winning it was just so important to this team. Going to give us a lot of confidence having beaten an arch rival on the road under tough conditions.

I said it last week and will say it again. This ain't over. Florida has a very tough road to travel and while we certainly have the upper hand in the SECE at the moment, I would not expect UT to go quietly.

Time for you to show up LG. You said you hoped this game didn't turn on bad officiating. It did. Wynn was given a full yard on that last spot and there's no justification on earth for that roughing the passer call that took 6 off the board.

What say you now?... or was it just a hope that it didn't turn agains UF on a bad call?

Both teams didn't play their best game, but Florida deserved it. They made the UT running game non-existant.

You can't taunt a fan of a team that just beat your team.

BTW, UF did play great game. Very gutsy. They ran much better than they have in awhile... but the critical game changing calls went at least 3:1 against UT and that's if you don't count the holding in the middle.

I'm sorry, but the call before that on the block in the back was worse. And I think overall the officiating hurt Florida much more than helped us.

HEARTBREAK

I am miserable right now. Florida won, but I am in a bad way. I can't deal with this right now

You got to give credit to Florida's front 7 on defense, they did play very well, our OL struggled tonight. I really wish we had at least found a way to give Wilhoit a shot at the game.

UF played great. They "deserved" it in the respect that they did everything they could to win... and got a little help to push them over the hump.

Congrats on the W, LG. Florida played the best when it counted the most in the 4th quarter.

The more talented team won tonight. The Florida front seven dominated the game, and UT, in CPF fashion decided to start running the clock out in the third quarter. Hats off to the Gators. That D is stout. :hi:

When there is a one point game, it's easy to point to the ref for the difference. And there is definate truth to the idea that it could have been a Tennessee win with the right calls. One could also argue that Florida should have had a touchdown on the return that would have also changed the game. All that to say, football is a game of small details, and a little luck never hurts.

Overall,(and I hate admitting this), I thought Florida outplayed us more than the score indicated. Hoping a healthy Arian Foster makes a difference VERY SOON!

Yes, the Florida defensive line played great all night long. I will say that Ainge played better than I expected, especially with us in his face quite a bit. Florida D was very aggressive tonight and it paid off.

Dude, I just am not getting that. One questionable call that you say robbed you of a TD, but that came seconds after a really bad call that saved you a Florida TD. Other than that, Florida seemed to me to get the short end of the stick.

Nonetheless, you did have a chance at the end. The grounding call on Ainge was correct -- he was incredibly lucky to avoid the safety on that one -- and that just killed you. Again, Florida rush.

There ain't no way on earth.

Mapu was trying to knock the ball down, was being held, and in the course of being pushed right made incidental contact with prissy's helmet... and I didn't see a flag until AFTER the interception was made. The late hit out of bounds early was a ridiculous no call... followed very quickly by a mysterious personal foul against Bret Smith that the cameras couldn't seem to find. Other than the plays where UF's linemen had their arms outside the pads of UT's defenders (supposed to be the rule for holding), I saw one play where a UF lineman was actually hanging on to the face mask of a guy putting pressure on Leak- no call.

UF's d-line dominated the line of scrimmage... which begs the question of why UT didn't tell their linemen to start holding too since it wasn't being called.

Florida was the better more experienced team. The officiating was fair. IMO UT should have been called for grounding in the end zone. How many times do you see a QB talk a ref out of a call?

Another sleepless night.....As much as I hate to say it,,,, hats off to ya. The better team won tonight. UT is much better than last year, but can't expect to win with 0 yards rushing. Couple of bad calls, but still couldn't get the "tough" yards. O-line has a lot of ground to make up. UF's front 7 is very good, and it showed against an average at best o-line. The game was truly won up front. Congrats.

It wasn't grounding. He threw it right at the RB. It doesn't have to be a good pass, it just needs to be near a receiver.

The block in the back was a good call I have tivo and me and my friends(who are not tennessee or florida fans) watched it 100 times it was good. The hit to head call was so stupid(which we watched 100 times too) but WTF. I hate Florida and always will and can in no way tell the gators they played a good game.

yes it is. for all intents and purposes, you just won the east barring a collapse by you guys. tennessee has been humbled big time over the last 2 games. florida is a much faster team and schemes better than tennessee on both sides of the ball. they're the best team in the east and they proved it tonight. i had my doubts about a tennessee victory going into this game and they were confirmed tonight.

of course i was called a "pansy" on this board for doing that, but i'm a realist, not a false optimist. sorry if that pisses people off.

I'm not all that surprised.
One questionable call that you say robbed you of a TD,
Not questionable. He didn't slap Leak's head. He wasn't going for Leak's head. He didn't swing at Leak's head. He was trying to block the pass and was "blocked" into his head. It was ridiculous and game changing.
but that came seconds after a really bad call that saved you a Florida TD.
That was a "questionable" call... not a "really bad call".
Other than that, Florida seemed to me to get the short end of the stick.
Oh. You mean like when they wouldn't let your lb get away with kicking a UT lineman on the ground? Or maybe when the no-called a hit by one of your guys four yards out of bounds? Maybe when they gave Wynn a full yard on his last run??

The grounding call on Ainge was correct --
True.
he was incredibly lucky to avoid the safety on that one --
True.
and that just killed you. Again, Florida rush.
Should've coached the o-line to hold since it wasn't being called the other way... Not even once.... Not even when it was holding by face mask...

Thanks Tidwell. I appreciate that. As I said elsewhere, hardly over at this point. Got a feeling SECE could come down tot he last weekend, as usual.

Statistically I think that's right. But Florida just did not seem to want to close the deal after these 50-60 yard drives. I think UT had something to do with that.

Kind words, Bob.
Thanks.
