The morning show is flat out awful. I can listen to Hyams show and I can't stand listening to the morning show which says a lot. You can't expect any change either when the station manager is one of the hosts. The only show worth listening too is the show with Josh Ward

The noon show on The Sports Animal is pretty good. Other than that, bleh......

The morning show, almost thankfully, has a 10 minute commercial after Doc, Jeff, and Heather talk incessantly about some sport at Tennessee that not many people care about to start with.

However, the only redeeming quality to Heather is the fact that I would..............

Never mind. I'll just stop there before I go any further.

I agree, Josh Ward and Will West are a good duo, and easily have the best show.

Poor Jimmy.

Also, I'm shocked HH got passed all the security at DD's cave to be able to do the interview.

Every time I hear Dooley speak about his plans and goals while he's here, I become more and more a believer in him.

I don't know what the future holds for him but I feel like our program will be vastly more stable with CDD at the helm than I ever felt with LK.

The thing that concerns me, however, is what sort of time-frame will it be before we're a legitimate SEC power again. That's not to say I don't think he can't do it, because I whole-heartedly believe he can. Its the unknown(s) that comes along with Dooley and his staff that fuels my concern.

A few positives I came away with from the interview:

(1) He's a college coach. Talked about getting his "PhD in X's & O's" while in the NFL but missed recruiting and being involved within a college community.

(2) Stresses education before the NFL--though not to say he won't prepare his players for the NFL. IMHO, that's provides the best structure for a collegiate athlete to focus on the task at hand while keeping an eye towards the future. Promotes strong priorities and disciplined players.

(3) Runs an NFL offense. Has a certain attraction to players that want to make it to the next level over the Spread.

Also, when asked about the public perception of his media appearances (or lack thereof...

(4) He said when he took over he made it his priority to work internally first then over time, work on promoting. He said it was "kind of funny b/c when I took over LaTech, I did a lot of the things Bruce Pearl did for the basketball program here....in time I will do those things but for now my focus needs to be internal." (Paraphrasing)

The guys is an impressive interview, that is for certain. I'm like others, every time I hear him I feel more and more comfortable about the hire.

I actually enjoy the morning show. I listen to it every morning while preparing for classes that day. I agree that the noon show is probally the best on the station but I generally enjoy listening to the morning show because they do talk about pretty much everything.

But I digress.

One of the biggest things I like about this is that its preparing the young men to actually contribute to society if they dont make it to the NFL. If anyone has watched The U, the mini-documentry that ESPN put on you'll see several examples of what happens when you dont do this. The young men graduate, dont make it to the NFL and are barely able ot read and write. Yet have a college degree. I dont think its the coaches job to prepare the kids for the NFL but to prepare them for their entire future, which for some will include the NFL but if thats your only focus (like CLK's seemed to be) then your going ot have a bunch of thugs representing your university and I for one dont want my university viewed in that way.
