She said, regardless of whether Schiano knew, as a member of the media she feels responsible to ask those questions and the thought of that was cringe worthy if he was hired. In other words it was an immediate black cloud issue.

Anyone who thinks Schiano could have been hired and the Sandusky thing wouldn't have trended heavy is lying to themselves.

It's convenient for the national media to kick UT when its down, but I sure hope this bites them. I haven't heard a national person present the facts yet.

Actually, Bomani Jones of all people was in our favor last night on Twitter. Never thought I'd see the day Bomani Jones would be sticking up for Tennessee.

The way you know the fans are correct is that you don't see Schiano's phone ringing with calls from other schools.

Other posters had it correct.....no one was pursuing this guy. No one.

Which makes you wonder why does the UT boosters continually keep trying to burn the program to the ground? The proverbial elephant in tbe living room

Yup. Tennessee fans did the same thing that every athletic director with a job opening already did. Refused to consider Schiano for their coaching position.

We are supposed to the reputation reform school for millionaire coaches. No one else is just us. And we are jerks for doing so.

Even the resident gator supports us. Btw, congratulations on Dan Mullen. I personally think he's underwhelming but given who we almost hired, you all knocked it out of the park and down the street in comparison. :hi:

At least Colorado wanted Butch Jones at the time.

I genuinely feel bad because this is out of your control.

Even in the 80's when Florida was plagued by probation, both in football and basketball, the athletic department wasn't this mismanaged.

I mean, hell, at least Florida was able to enjoy winning in exchange for the probation. Those teams were the first to win the SEC in football and basketball. So, at least we had results on the field of play to enjoy in exchange for it.

3 straight athletic directors that couldn't do worse if they tried.

Destroyed the football program. Still trying to recover.
Destroyed the basketball program. May be on its way back.
Destroyed the baseball program. Still in the abyss.

What can you do when the people who run the program are totally incapable of doing a decent job?

This is actually almost a microcosm of Trump's rise to the Presidency. A people so fed up that they they didn't care about what supposedly might happen, because everyone they had elected had not done what they said they were going to do.

Honestly, what did Tennessee fans have to lose by rising up against Schiano?

Exactly.

How Currie didn't see this being an issue is beyond dumbfounding. He deserves whatever backlash he gets.

Barrett sallee is supporting ut publicly saying it was bad hire be proud for stsnding up....now maybe we should more flat out talked about his coaching record than the other

To take it a step further ... imagine your son is a top recruit and Greg Schiano shows up in your living room promising to protect your son and do what's right regardless of the consequences. Do you trust that? It's a question you have to ask yourself with any coach, and I (personally) would rather not have a head coach that gives parents pause when they consider Tennessee.

Even if Schiano did everything right at PSU (and maybe he did), I think there are way better choices out there with the talent to carry our program without bringing with them (perhaps through no fault of their own) these sorts of questions.
