Shout Out To OrangeU! When I was growing up I didnt fully grasp why we were called the Volunteers. To be honest I always envied teams that had "cool" names like the "Hawkeyes" or the "Hurricanes". As I grew older and learned the history of my home state and where the name originated I had tremendous pride in the name Volunteers. I loved it that no other team in the nation had a name that was comparable for all the the moniker embodied.
Now it seems that rarely does a year go by when I am not touched by the Volunteer spirit that lives in our teams and in our fans. Recently the center I run for girls with life controlling problems was in need of bibles. I out the word out to see if anyone would be willing to contribute. One of Volnation.com's own stepped up and purchased all 50 bibles out of his own pocket. OrangeU bought and shipped all 50 hardback New Living Translation study bibles for our center. If you've ever wondered what makes the Volunteers special, look no further than the volnation!
I defy any other college football program to measure up to the heart of our teams and the hearts of our fans.
To OrangeU, :hi:, thank you brother!

I went to the alamo recently, and each flag had the number of volunteers from each state. Tennessee more than doubled the numbers of each state and country represented there, even texas.

Go Vols

Wow. I didn't know that there were flags there for each volunteer.

I think this state has a proud heritage of a "getting the job done" mentality. You don't have to look any further than the leaders that come from this state. Tennessee leaderss are well known for their common sense approach to issues. Some folks may say it's over simplifying issues but I disagree. Tennesseans get it done. :salute:

Didn't the volunteer thing start with Andrew Jackson's militia at the battle of new Orleans?

Wow. I really appreciate all the kind words, but didn't do it to get any pats on the back. My papaw was an east Tennessean, born and bred, and I can thank him for having the "heart of a Volunteer", I reckon. I heard Rex needed help with his ministry, and I did it. Lots of you guys would have done the same. We're family 'round here, after all. Heck, the entire Vol Faithful is a family, as some have said. Family looks after family, in Vol country and in God's Kingdom.

Ain't nothin' like VOLS, period.
To God be the glory. You guys just made my day.
Go Big Orange.
