Think of the irony of how our fanbase loves that song but hates it when the media applies hillbilly stereotypes to us.

It's a catchy tune that, for some, signifies the pride and culture of Tennessee football. You don't have to be the stereotype of a "hillbilly" for the song to have meaning to you.

Oh, and when I hear rocky top, I begin deliberating as to whether I keep rhythmically pumping my fist/orange shaker through the "woo" with the beat, or if I pause with it raised through the "woo." I stress on this EVERY TIME. I usually just stop singing and what-not right at the "woo," to be on the safe side.

I have some quirks.

Have you paid attention to the lyrics? Exactly where does the song mention football? It's about a bunch of drunk, apparently sex crazed, hillbillies killing ATF agents and failing to cut it in the big city.

...miss fall Saturdays in Knoxville and the days when we had a championship caliber program.

Well, since it's been played at every game that I've ever been to since I was 5 yrs old, you can see how it might have some sort of signifigance to me pertaining to UT football, even if it doesn't reference football anywhere in the lyrics.

Yep. The lyrics give us a terrible image, but it is still one of the better fight songs in college football. I mean this by the version the band plays, with no words

There are a lot of football fans that know nothing more than the chorus.
