Sure, quite a few people know:Does anyone know the 17 year old identity yet? Salter?
Sure, quite a few people know:
1. The 17-year-old knows.
2. The other 4 fellas who were with him do, too.
3. The people they ran into in Stokely dorm may or may not know him by name.
4. The KPD / UTPD officers involved in the arrest know his identity.
5. Anyone who was provided or otherwise has access to the arrest report knows. This probably includes several members of both KPD and UTPD, the Provost's office, the university leadership, and -- if the rumor that the lad is a football player is true -- at least a couple of members of the coaching staff.
6. It is possible other members of the team know by now, as well as family members of the five.
But you know who doesn't know? We don't. Because it's against KPD and UT policy to share the names of minors, and the fellas involved aren't sharing publicly.
Eventually, word will leak out. It always does. That many people can't keep a secret. So we'll hear.
Trouble is, it will come to us third-hand, or fifth-hand, or twentieth-hand, and we'll never be sure that the version we hear is the truth.
So, get used to disappointment and being in the dark. Even once you think you know, you won't know.![]()
Because why would the victims contact the police and then refuse to discuss the incident with them? If they had something they would have have gotten in trouble for, they would not have contacted the police initially. And I’m not too keen on the retaliation theory. They were already robbed and assaulted. It’s very cut and dry. There is more of an opportunity for retaliation from guys that know you have contacted the police about that haven’t been arrested because you didn’t follow through with ratting them out than guys that are in jail because you followed through with the police. Why? It is likely one of two things.
He was holding and doesnt want to be in triuble himself
He is afraid if retaliation
Or both.
Regardless of his reasons, the 5 involved whether they are football players or not..are piece of shiit thugs. And deserve ti be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The above is assuming the story is accurate as reported.
But looking for excuses because it might be footabll players...eff that.
Readers digest version: He's a minor. None of our business.Sure, quite a few people know:

Was he arrested? If not, the officer just decided to notify the News Sentinel that Bernard King had marijuana on his breath? I just don’t see how that information would even get out unless he was arrested. Or perhaps he got a ticket and the officer just noted that detail on the ticket? Will never forget during my time at UT that the Knoxville Sentinel reported that Bernard King of the Volunteers was pulled over and had marijuana on his breath. Aaaaahhhh, the days when local Police turned a blind eye on our glorified athletes vs today when they jump on the opportunity to have a video go viral of them arresting an athlete

Oh dear god....The other two sites have both had threads discussing it. Some kind of altercation involving a drug deal. Apparently it’s bad enough that UT Campus Security has issued a safety warning to campus. Supposedly 4-5 UT football players involved.
Now this is JUST message board talk, and apparently one of the sites actually deleted their thread on it, but there are rumors Salter is involved. There are also rumors that there is a video.
Don’t shoot the messenger. I just read one of the sites’ thread on it.
