Hearing from my friend in AD that there is a 9 oclock meeting to disuss game location

Half the people who "know" a booster/coach/AD/player and were told inside information completely contradict the other guy who also "knows" a booster/coach/AD/player. Either your insider doesn't know anybody, or you're making this stuff up for fake internet points. Not pointing a finger at you OP, just my observation. We seem to have a lot of insiders on this board.

I understand where you're coming from but I don't post often. My source is very well connected. I just thought I'd calm a lot of the uncertainty.

Tampa Bay is open for business; it's southwest of Gainesville.

Disney World is open for business; it's southeast of Gainesville.

The worst damage in the state was in the Keys; next worst, the Fort Myers area. In short, the further south you go, the worse things are (generally speaking; Jax has to be the exception to the rule).

So it seems pretty logical that, if the state highway system, emergency services, policing, hotel capacities, and so on can handle Disney World and the Tampa Bay area being open for business, they can handle a college football game in Gainesville.

I'd bet money on us playing in the Swamp Saturday, at this point.

Also, nothing official until later in the week, but it's sounding like the Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing at home as scheduled on Sunday too.

UF is also open today, with students in class (per sports animal). Not saying they'll play there just because of that, just stating what I heard. It's not just power issues and flooding in Gainesville, you have to consider flooding and trees down getting there, all the evacuees in hotels, etc.

They're wrong.

http://www.ufl.edu/alerts/hurricane-irma.html

The University of Florida is currently planning to reopen on Wednesday, with classes resuming Thursday.

The past few days have brought devastation to our state, particularly in the Florida Keys and along the southwest coast. Some members of our university community have suffered significant loss. In Gainesville, there is widespread loss of power and some roads remain impassable due to downed trees and floods.

Our Gainesville campus did not lose power, and apart from numerous downed trees, some flooding and modest damage, the campus was not affected to the extent we were expecting. UF has facilities in every Florida county and, in most cases although not all, those facilities were spared from significant damage.

Weather conditions have improved significantly. Considerable progress has been made in clearing Gainesville roads and much of the flooding has subsided. We expect limited bus service to be restored Tuesday with full service by Wednesday. The J. Wayne Reitz Union will open Tuesday noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The game room will be open and limited food services will be available. Because we have students on campus, we also plan to open UF libraries and the Florida Museum of Natural History on Tuesday. Times will be announced later.

Although classes are planning to resume on Thursday, students not currently in Gainesville must use their best judgment in deciding the right time to travel back to campus, making safety a priority. We are asking faculty members and academic staff to be as flexible and understanding as possible to personal hardship experienced by students.

I find it fascinating that the athletic department is going to talk about it this morning, but according to multiple booster sources last night, this has already been decided :)

AD could be discussing logistical issues involved in moving the game to Atlanta

LOL The Bucs have already said they are playing in Tampa this weekend. I know people in Ocala without power, so what. All you need to play is the players, refs, score-clock which can be kept on the field.... even the coaches are optional.

The Vols can fly in Saturday morning, play the game, fly out. You can even play without the crowd just as LSU suggested last year.

Concession $? How many people will actually be able to attend the game??? I SERIOUSLY doubt it will be anywhere near capacity.

It may be up to the students that are on campus to fill the stadium up. I suspect most other folks are more worried about getting their life back in order by checking on their homes, the places of employment etc.

Even if the game is moved - just don't see some FL folks put priority on attending a college game if they have incurred any damage from Irma.

It is obviously all about the $$$ for them. Hope they play in front of an empty stadium.

Possibly Mac trying to get it delayed so some certain investigations are over with? Lol

There is no requirement to have a crowd. LSU actually suggested last year for exactly that to happen... LSU was willing to fly in the morning of, play the game and fly out... no crowd, no Tv, etc.

I'm listening to Brady Ackerman and Shane Matthews on Gainesville radio now. They think an announcement will be made sometime today that the game will be played as scheduled in the Swamp. Ackerman is pretty dialed-in as he's the sideline reporter for Florida radio and he has a son on the team.

They also made some good points regarding attendance saying they could envision 15-20,000 empty seats. So however this plays out, you won't be dealing with a typical Florida football environment.

The University of South Florida announced their game this Friday in Tampa v Illinois will be played as scheduled. The Tampa Bay Bucs are playing their NFL game as scheduled on Sunday in Tampa.

I'd be shocked if UF-UT is played anywhere but the Swamp on 9/16 at 3:30pm.

I agree.. I live here in Cent Fl. .. the other option that I think could be a back up is having game in Tampa would centralize all resources re police security accessibility . USF Fri Fl/TN Sat .. NFL Sunday all at Raymond James

No matter what the decision the barristers and elite minds of this board will be critical of it and claim that the decision would be better off left with them. Many on this board know all about everything, coaching politics or making weather related decisions should always be decided by the great minds of this board. Yeah right!!!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!

That would be pretty cool!

However, I laughed because many posters on here blamed UT's poor field conditions from a couple of years ago because of ALL the games held in Neyland.

No. If there is no hotel rooms for the team to stay in Friday night within reasonable distance of Gainesville, the game needs to be postponed or moved.

LSU offered because LSU knew that UF was going to say no.

I truly hope it is played in the Swamp. First, this is SEC football, and it's always better on campus...even on that awful campus. Second, if they are able to host the game, it means damage is far less than originally feared. Third, Florida needs all the revenue possible right now. I'm for them doing all they can to get income streams on line as soon as possible.

Only reason I've been paying much attention to the Atlanta talk is I considered trying to take my son if it happened.
