I find it fascinating that the athletic department is going to talk about it this morning, but according to multiple booster sources last night, this has already been decided :)

I heard Disney is opening today.

Hard to imagine considering the wide spread suffering going in across the state.

There's no way the Swamp is getting a game this weekend. Countless people down there have said there is still flooding and massive power outages. Only way we play in Gainesville is if we play at a later date.

Disney is open. Keep in mind that Disney has their own power grid. Many, many places without power.

He expects it to still be played at Florida.

Disneyworld announced they are open today. Orlando airport is open. The game will be played in Gainesville is my prediction. The UF AD is not going to let all that gate and concession money slip through their fingers that easily. Always follow the money.

:rock:Although the storm has passed and the weather may be even clear, there is plenty of damage such as electricity and such that may not be operational by Saturday. Sure most of the motels and eating places have damage as well. Not sure if the SEC or Florida would make the decision. Maybe by tonight there will be more information.

Concession $? How many people will actually be able to attend the game??? I SERIOUSLY doubt it will be anywhere near capacity.

UF is also open today, with students in class (per sports animal). Not saying they'll play there just because of that, just stating what I heard. It's not just power issues and flooding in Gainesville, you have to consider flooding and trees down getting there, all the evacuees in hotels, etc.

I'd say the most pressing factor is the availability of event management in the form of EMS folks, police, security, and other types of staff along those lines.

Semi relevant...Illinois-USF game in Tampa being played Friday night as scheduled.

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/illinois-usf-game-to-be-played-as-scheduled/2337151

That's good news for that area. Not exactly apples to apples comparison given the size of the crowds for USF games compared to UF/UT, and also not quite the same thing from an infrastructure standpoint in comparing Tampa to Gainesville. However, hopefully a sign that the most of the state is going to be able to get back to business as usual in short order.

The University of South Florida announced their game this Friday in Tampa v Illinois will be played as scheduled. The Tampa Bay Bucs are playing their NFL game as scheduled on Sunday in Tampa.

I'd be shocked if UF-UT is played anywhere but the Swamp on 9/16 at 3:30pm.

Half the people who "know" a booster/coach/AD/player and were told inside information completely contradict the other guy who also "knows" a booster/coach/AD/player. Either your insider doesn't know anybody, or you're making this stuff up for fake internet points. Not pointing a finger at you OP, just my observation. We seem to have a lot of insiders on this board.

I tend to agree. Reports I've seen from Gainesville look like they made it through ok.

Could they not outsource security to a private security company?

They already do a lot of it. But you still need armed law enforcement and those with powers of arrest.

And medical, fire, emergency management and even folks like the power and water companies, weather, etc.

A lot more behind the scenes than most realize.

A lot of bad insiders.
