Heads Need to Roll For This

No different than the absurd preseason rankings every year.... which absolutely influence the CFP rankings btw. Early examples of frauds this season are Clemson, Kansas State, Iowa State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and any Big Ten team not named Ohio State/Oregon.

Notre Dame could go 2-10 and the next year be in the top ten in the preseason AP poll. Polls are absolute garbage. I will say that star ratings are normally pretty accurate. Rare swing and a miss on the 2023 QB class.

Maybe he’ll come back to the east coast to help establish the rising Delaware Blue Hens.
I coached HS ball for several years. Several years we ran the Delaware Wing T and ran it to perfection. Every Summer we'd take our QB...OL...Backs to the Delaware Wing T camp. We were much like UT back in those days....we scored a hell of a lot of points but couldn't stop anybody. LOL

I loved the old wing T. If it’s done correctly it’s a fun time and you do put up some gaudy offensive numbers.

IMO we have to take a portal QB this year. There isn’t a chance Merk hangs around after this season and now way we can go into next season with just G-Mac and Brandon as our QB’s.

The question is any QB going to be willing to come in as a depth piece or do we take a guy for one season to compete for the starting job. Personally I think a veteran who is a one season guy is the answer and let Gmac and Brandon compete for the job in 2027.
Exactly. The staff is going to really have to dig in the weeds to find someone willing to come in and be a backup.

Yep. You never know what's inside a kid or how well he can learn, process and retain at the college level. To be honest, it's kinda the same for all positions to one degree or another. Pretty clear Heupel needs to hire himself a guy who knows a QB when he sees and talks to one. Got very little faith Heupel has that skill based upon his choices in recruiting to date.

The fact that our staff hung on to this talent experiment at the $2,4 million price tag is concerning and only let go when the price was no longer affordable is most concerning, I'm not sure Heupel can evaluate young QB talent, Hooker was experienced when got here and Aguillar already has 4 years of experience. Milton and Nico were way too slow on the read and I'm not sure Heupel can teach the fine arts of QB play in the SEC to allow these kids to improve,
And looks like Josh isn't the only one that was wrong about the QB's on that list.

Leaving Notre Dame in the AP after going 0-2 is a travesty. Some of those people voting in AP and I am sure in Coaches Poll also favor certain programs. Another example is when Rece Davis left Iowa at 17 and did not vote for Tennessee in the top 25 after Vols rolled Iowa 35-0. Pitiful there is no explanation but being a bammer splains alot.

This is my worry if we don’t take a portal QB for next season. Is it asking too much for a redshirt freshman to start in the SEC?
I think Heupel will roll with what he has in the room for next season much like he did with the WR room this year. Wouldn't be surprised if GMac wins the job with Brandon on his heels leaving Merk to transfer out. I can't see a scenario where all three of those guys are on the roster next season. Then again Stockton hung around so I guess anything is possible.

I think a very strong argument could be made about the influence and effect that NIL is having on high profile QBs. They are getting huge contracts more than any other position and that quickly changes the priorities and motivation of an 18 yo. I think we are going to see a shift in priorities to older, more proven QBs from lower tier schools in the portal.... especially after Aguilar has success this season.
