I think Gmac is the real deal. At least from the limited exposure I have had with him.The fact that our staff hung on to this talent experiment at the $2,4 million price tag is concerning and only let go when the price was no longer affordable is most concerning, I'm not sure Heupel can evaluate young QB talent, Hooker was experienced when got here and Aguillar already has 4 years of experience. Milton and Nico were way too slow on the read and I'm not sure Heupel can teach the fine arts of QB play in the SEC to allow these kids to improve,
No different than the absurd preseason rankings every year.... which absolutely influence the CFP rankings btw. Early examples of frauds this season are Clemson, Kansas State, Iowa State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and any Big Ten team not named Ohio State/Oregon.
I agree with that comment. There were several prognosticators that pick Clemson to win it all this year. A lot of bad things would have to happen to a lot of good teams for that to be happening. No different than the absurd preseason rankings every year.... which absolutely influence the CFP rankings btw. IMO we have to take a portal QB this year. There isn’t a chance Merk hangs around after this season and now way we can go into next season with just G-Mac and Brandon as our QB’s.This is my worry if we don’t take a portal QB for next season. Is it asking too much for a redshirt freshman to start in the SEC?
Every coach in the country wanted Nico. The fact that our staff hung on to this talent experiment at the $2,4 million price tag is concerning and only let go when the price was no longer affordable is most concerning, I'm not sure Heupel can evaluate young QB talent, Hooker was experienced when got here and Aguillar already has 4 years of experience. You can find a QB with experience that’s not gonna get drafted. They come for the NIL deal.IMO we have to take a portal QB this year. There isn’t a chance Merk hangs around after this season and now way we can go into next season with just G-Mac and Brandon as our QB’s.
The question is any QB going to be willing to come in as a depth piece or do we take a guy for one season to compete for the starting job. Personally I think a veteran who is a one season guy is the answer and let Gmac and Brandon compete for the job in 2027.
I think George will be ready next year. He would be the back up now if he was physically ready. Merk should stick around for the competition but idk what he does. He got a good NIL compensation this year to be the back up. I would suspect he will have a chance to compete to start next year which is the same deal he’s going to get anywhere else.IMO we have to take a portal QB this year. Can't vouch for the validity but a friend from another SEC school who is usually well informed told me Oregon (or an Oregon booster) pays for 5 full time evaluators of high school talent. They not only use the national rating services but they personally watch them practice and play in multiple games.Pretty clearly shows there's a flaw in how these star ratings are established. Without knowing exactly how it's done, it's hard to say, but those are all recent prospects, and that's a damning list. I still will wait on Manning - while he might not be everything he's being touted as, it's hard to imagine he's this bad.
I think we all knew in our heart of hearts that Nico was highly overrated by mid season last year.
They're good enough this year to squeak by some games they'd probably lose without the current talent they have. Very talented team with mediocre coaching.I agree with that comment. There were several prognosticators that pick Clemson to win it all this year. A lot of bad things would have to happen to a lot of good teams for that to be happening.
Another team than some folks are high on is LSU. After seeing a couple of their games, I don't see that happening either. They look awful against Florida last night.
