after our A&M game and the A&M Bama game targeting has been a focus. From what I understand is you can lead with the crown of your helmet as long as it's not a QB or a receiver making a catch or returner fielding a kick aimed at their neck head area.

So we can punish kick returners and running backs. WR after the catch, bust em. Let's see if we get he Bama treatment, because that's their explanation.

Teams in red in close proximity to Birmingham can do whatever the fudge they want, other teams not so much. That's your understanding of the rules.

Here's how it works......before every Bammer game the refs meet in the locker room and agree that under no circumstances does anybody call a hold, PI, or targeting call period against Bammer. Then Nicky comes in and the refs thank him for the hookers and cigars last night and assures him it's ALL good!

Sad thing is, it probably is about 85% right.....minus the hookers.

I swear Tamu's tackling strategy was getting away with targeting penalties. Ive never seen so many head to head tackles without a personal foul called against a team.

Bama get penalized but it's after the SEC cooking is already served. Bama get the benefit of penalties or selective blindness where it changes momentum. It evens out later in the game when it doesn't really matter anyway.

This. Refs give holding and few false starts or even a PI once in a while to Bama when they are up by 4 scores in 4th quarter. Just so they can show stats and say hey we penalize them too.

That Bama guy should have been ejected both times for that hit. Multiple other holding and chop blocks calls werent called throughout.

Then why don't our opponents get penalized? Bama is a gaudy 126th in opposing penalties (which is a massive improvement of 2 places from last week).

Bama is still dead last in first downs from penalties.

There is no referee conspiracy. They are trained to be impartial and spend many hours learning to get it right and are graded on mistakes. Also Bigfoot is not real.

rules are set for cheaters..not #1 teams that buy off those who cheat.

I'm sure they'll get around to Bama after they finish up with Miami, UNC, and Ole Miss. Of course, they have to actually start with any of them before they can finish.

Nope. Because we don't have the refs, sec, and ncaa in our back pockets

If you think there is nothing dirty going on here you are very naive to the ways of the world.

You can never hit with the crown of the helmet it is a penalty (unless you're Bama) no matter who you hit or where you hit them. I know that for a fact and the other part of the rule I believe is you cannot target the head or neck area of a defenseless player.
Defenseless players being a QB making a pass, WR catching the ball, KR, any player on the ground, and there are several more.

I don't know about a conspiracy theory, but LSU Dad on Youtube calls it Bama privilege. Has several videos posted to prove his point.

I hate to be a sore loser, but the bigger thing that bothers me with Bama is the way they handled the recent arrests. Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones got off because the DA didn't want to "ruin their lives because they have worked hard". Tim Williams was arrested on a Thursday night for drugs and a weapon, but played on Saturday. The NCAA turns a blind eye. There are bad seeds on every NCAA team, but eventually it will catch up to them. It always has for UT. One of their top recruits, a LB named Cowan was just kicked off of his HS team for bad behavior. He won't be allowed to play in the Army All-American game.

On a related note, a Bama fan at my work was asked if Bama players are on PEDs. He laughed and said, "Hell yes they are. Just look at them".

Go back and watch Dobbs pick six in the Bama game. This was a game changer. As soon as Dobbs released the ball he was hit squarely in the face mask that snapped his head back. A forearm hand shot to the QB's helmet in a passing situation. How the hell is that not a 15 yard personal foul. That should have been UT ball near midfield. Again, that play was a game changer.

I know it's needed, but it is a shame that "targeting" has had to become such a big thing in football. Troy Ackman (misspelled I think) said some years ago that the better helmets and have gotten the more head and neck injuries we have. He said when players wore leather helmets with no face mask you didn't have so many injuries of this type. Leading with the head was not such a good idea.

Not to mention the pass interference the play before!

while it does feel / appear that way at times, I don't think there is a grand conspiracy theory w/ reffing games.

However, since the refs are human there is bound to be some subliminal notions that do occur...home team, better team, what have you that leads them to leaning one way - primarily on the 50/50 calls. OTOH, I agree w/ some that the OL holding "game" is getting out of control....the rules have been so convoluted over the past 30 years that they get away with just about anything now. If you want it changed, just put mittens on them...problem solved.

Now, the UA headshot that knocked Speedy Noil out of the game, as well as the TAMU shot on Berry were clearly crown of the helmet hits to guys in the face/neck/head. I don't expect the refs on the field to catch everything, but the replay officials should...and if they ignore, as is the case, it is gross negligence / incompetence IMO.

Mike Dubose would disagree about the hookers statement.

Everyone is under the same rules except bummer. I've seen at least 10 cases where targeting should be called on them, not just our game but others and the refs are blind to it for some reason.
