Head Coaching Candidates?

Everyone worth a damn turned us down flat in 2010. Hamilton put us behind the 8-ball with the Kiffin hire. I hope that Dooley succeeds and if he can't then I hope that his staff can at least restock the pantry to the point that the next head coach will be a splash hire.

I think you are spot-on about Hamilton being the problem. Dooley is an incredibly likeable guy, but the fact is that we hired a coach that just came off a 4-8 season in a mid-major conference.

Yeah, that's wrong. We have to pay him $5 million if we fire him before Feb. 15, 2013, $4 million before Feb 15, 2015 or $2.5 million after Feb. 15, 2015.
That aside, unless the man has back-to-back losing seasons he's going to be here at least four years and really it would probably be knee jerk to even think seriously about firing him before he's had five seasons under his belt. Luckily for Dooley, the AD's decisions are not based on the message board rantings posted the day after we get whipped by a divisional rival.

I didn't know this. This is a pretty good deal it seems to me and suggests that maybe he has more breathing room than I thought.

Wow, that's kind of crazy to take that kind of risk with an unproven coach. So let's just hope he hits the gas and gets us where we need to go. That should make everybody happy!

I am pretty sure those buyout numbers were just from Dooleys agent negotiating because of the reverse buyouts we wanted in the contract in case he decided to bolt for another school. Like any coach with half a brain would ever leave Tennessee for another school.

***** slapped and outcoached.

My impression of CDD is that Tennessee could be his career school much like Georgia was for his father and I think he knows what he has to do to make that happen.

genius, Tommy Tuberville and Dan Mullen. It is not even close Mullen has given Miss St respect and a 9 win season in two years and Tuberville whipped our ass repeatedly. So when we get sick of moral victories and excuses about being young when half the conference is just as young and outrecruiting us I say hire one of them. Dooley is a loser, check the record, watch the film, and understand we run such a basic scheme most of the conference can stop it.

There is no more proof that Mullen is a good coach at this point then there is Dooley. He had one good year, but many coaches have had one good year, for example Charlie Weis took Notre Dame to two BCS Bowl Games. Based off of your logic we should consider him before Mullen. Plus, Mullen is still playing with the previous coaches players, lets see what kind of talent he can bring in and what that talent can do for him before we go crowning him a great coach.

Please explain the "outcoached" part of your claim.

no pressure when Fl brought the house and we had no answer. Leaving Rainey wide open without a spy the whole game when it was clear he was going to get the ball, going for two when not necessary, seeing the blocked punt formation and Dooley admitting he should have called a time out, and most of all giving up an easy touchdown on the first series just like always when Fl as staed by Dooley didn't do anything that was unexpected. I could go on but my fingers are tired of typing.
