Saw this article from USA Today and thought it was interesting. I don't know where people stand on CDD's salary (I seem to remember people thinking it was too high initially) but this does give some perspective.

Some odd ones are that June Jones makes what DD does at SMU. Also some seemingly low salaries like Bielema's at Wisconsin, JoePa and Bill Stewart's at WVU.

Do you think CDD's salary is about right when seeing where everyone else is?

I know they're a private school so the info's not public, but I read somewhere that Vandy's coach makes $11.50/hour.

Mac Brown has got to be the most over paid coach this year- a million dollars a win

Wonder how much of that one and a half million bonus Chizik is getting ready to collect that Cam gets? That may be the reason they can say no money has changed hands..........yet. On another note, Kirk Ferentz is doing pretty well at Iowa. CDDs was probably a little high to start with considering no SEC experience, but if he gets us turned around and in an SECCG within 3 years, it will be considered a bargain by these numbers.

I think for an initial salary, CDD's is a little high. I already knew he was over $2 mil, but still think somewhere around $1.5 mil would have been the better way to go and then add some agreements for more based on production and winning. That's just me though.

Ericksons' bonus at Arizona State is higher than his salary. I would really like to see a chart like this that includes how much they spend on asst coaches.

You mean that CDD doesn't deserve to be paid a higher base salary than both coaches in the SEC championship this year? Blasphemy.

Who cares????

Why does someone always have to come in and douche the thread up with a comment like this? Obviously, all the people that have commented care. Here, I`ll make it easy for you. If you don't care, don't comment. Easy.

A couple of items for thought:

There are 6 SEC coaches with higher compensation than Dooley. He is tied with Chizic*, and above Spurrier*, Phillips, Mullen, and presumably whoever Vandy hires.

Turner Gill, Ralph Fridgen*, Bo Pelini, Greg Schiano, June Jones, and Frank Beamer* all have comp packages roughly equivalent to Dooley's.

Jimbo Fisher, Bill Snyder*, Butch Davis*, Mike Gundy, Bret Bielema*, Steve Sarkisian, and Gary Patterson* all make less than Dooley.

Jeff Tedford, Paul Johnson*, Rich Rodriguez*, Gary Pinkel, and Chip Kelly* all make slightly more than Dooley.

The * coaches all have BCS appearances, including this year for Bielema and Chizic.

I didn't take it like that, I can't speak for them but I think they were just saying not to hate on someone for being overpaid if they were, don't know though.

Could be, if so, my bad. My day has ready taken a turn for the crappy.

CDDs salary may be slightly above what it should have been but I'm not complaining

I agree with you completely. It was intersting to me. However, if the other poster was correct in that it was meant as who cares if Iowa is getting raped, it probably should have been stated that way to distinguish it from those posts that are saying it shouldn't have been posted. IMO, if someone was interested enough to post it, therefore it is relevant(to at least them).
