Head Coach in Training

I don't think any self respecting coach or assistant will get anywhere near this cluster**** until Currie is gone. I wouldn't risk my reputation for this. The Haslam family has successfully turned Tennessee football into a national joke, much like his Cleveland Browns.

Here's what I'd do. Bring Kiffin in as, on the condition that he hire Tee as OC and associate head coach. We'll recruit like crazy and win like crazy.

Then, if things go south with Kiffin for any reason, we've got a GREAT backup who can immediately step in as interim head coach, prove himself, and get the full-time gig after one good season. It's a win-win.

I don't think Kiffin turns his offense over to anyone. And if he were HC, I don't think I'd want him to.

I'm fine with that. If we are seriously considering taking a shot at the NC State guy... take a shot with Tee... or Kiffin. Or Kiffin with Tee as OC if he'd come

Your last sentence would be a possibility and would be more likely to happen than you realize. They’ve worked together before and actually like working together.

Go back to Okie State and hire their OC as OC. He's making 500k. Think he would be interested in tripling his salary?

Tee would be smart to not take the job right now

This fan base won't wait around for someone to learn on the job

You don't hire someone just because they wore the orange either.

Tee has been an OC for 2 years. No HC experience

Its not what we need now. Bring in another proven HC, Tee as OC and groom him to take over, just like Fulmer did. Let him cut his SEC teeth as an OC first to see how he can handle it

I wonder about some of you and your ability to reason
Tell me what Dabo did before he was the HC at Clemson.

Just curious, how long have you been a Volunteer fan VFFL ?

Since Dec. 1980, I was thinking about football specifically. I am not a fan of basketball at all.

I do not think Tennessee has ever had a football head coach that was black. I think the first black football player was like 1974.

Numerous assistant coaches in football, but no HC. Just so you know, Lester McClain was UT's first African American football player in 1968, with Condredge Holloway the SEC's first African American QB in 1972.

We wanted Albert Davis from Alcoa ( I think ) in the early/mid 60's but he didn't qualify.

I think the first black player was Spook McClain from the Nashville area.......mid/late 60's.

Thank-you. My source was based solely off team pictures hanging up at the indoor football complex in the 1990's.

I am up for many options at h.c. but I like the idea of Martin as head with enough money to pay good coordinators.

Of course any coach with money for cordinators would be an ideal situation.

Lester McClain in 1968
We’ve never had a black head FB coach
