He is still on the Team...

Interesting.. mmm another Tenn kid getting the same type of Butch treatment.. not saying it's right but is this some type of pattern with CBJ....

Yeah, Derek Barnett, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Juan Jennings, Josh Malone, Josh Smith, Jashon Robertson, TK Jr, and several other Tennessee high school ball players would disagree with this assessment.

Like all of us who do at whatever we do - I suspect they ask their coaches, what do I need to do to ensure I get this. They are told what they need to do. They think they did it. Those that make decisions don't agree.

I agree with you! If others on this site have ever had employees working for them, then they understand how performance reviews work. We rate our employees' objectives on a scale of 1- 3 (1- did not meet goal, 2 - met goal, 3 - exceeded goal). We often find that some employees rate themselves at the end of the year as a 3 on every objective when they should be rated mostly 2s or even some 1s. Just because an employee (or player, in this case) thinks they are outstanding does not mean the coach sees it the same way. I would prefer that players actually sit down and discuss issues with a coach instead of, as is the rumor, quitting the team and then later speaking to the coach.

There's been a couple of these type situations every year. Remember Vic Wharton, or Preston Williams last year. We can't keep losing talent

If we lose talent because talent loses out to more talented competition then yes we can.

Welcome to America. Capitalism is a bloody battle. Sink or swim.

There appear to be multiple players saying that Jones made promises that he didn't follow through on. How does that equate to Jones being booted?

Please share where this appears. I don't tweet or facebook, but, I am interested in knowing who said what.

There has NEVER been a doubt in my mind about CBJ covering his azz and flat out lying to HURD at the end of 2015 in order to prevent him from leaving the program before the NW Bowl game....

Everyone would've been on CBJ's azz if Hurd had left at the end of 2015.....after having that monster year!

I believe the OL who was rumored to be leaving the team last year was Dylan Wiesman...#71....

So yes--only idiots living in LA LA land will refuse to believe that there's a lot of smoke on this issue surrounding CBJ...

Jack Jones has PROVEN that he can play in the SEC at OG against anyone on the field...:salute:

I've posted on here (maybe the first or one of them) that Hurd was led to believe that the offset I would be mixed in to the regular offense. I believed that DeBord was allowed to display it in the bowl via small sample size, and the success of such gave him license to go ahead...and Hurd decided to stay per that pitch. I think Butch tanked it per stubborn dedication to his offense and that whole course of events also tanked his relationship with DeBord. That being said, all coaches try to keep talent...Saban didn't let Kamara go without making some promises that most likely would never come to fruition. In essence, Butch is doing his damn job! I'm hoping he's become more flexible as far as technical adjustments but to try to paint the SOP of retaining talent as a "troubling pattern" is delusion in liquid form. :loco:

so hes still on the team and everyone is still crapping on butch for these so called "patterns"? what the hell?

Boulware ahead of Jones would be a JOKE! :salute:

And you know this because you attend all the practices and oline meetings and you know how both players have developed. Let's let the coaches decide who plays since they are with them everyday and they want the best 5 on the field.

Afterwards, Hurd goes to a school thats roster will be depleted and hasn't run the I since Walter Abercrombie in the early 80s. Go figure.

Here is how it goes in High School. Parent wants more playing time for a kid. Parent puts pressure on AD. Ad talks to coach and puts more pressure on coach. Coach throws keys on AD's desk "You want to play him you coach the team. It is my way or the highway." Coach is always in charge.

Solid reference to CC.

Bought my first home stereo from Circuit City, on credit. Onkyo, receiver, turn table, duel cassette, 5 cd disc changer and two 12" speakers. Also a Cerwin Vega sub woofer. This was back in 84, my car was the first thing I bought on credit in 83, this was my second.

Still have it in a box over the garage.:)

From everything we've seen from articles, pics, volunteering, he seems truly vested in UT... I think something definitely had to go sideways for any of this to be true. I will say there seems to be a pattern emerging with Butch and linemen though if this ends up being true... maybe just another case of a coach making promises he can't keep and I think every coach at one point gets put in that situation.

To play a different position, supposedly. And I'd wager not in his top 5 original choices.

Seems like an odd place to keep a car.

the only thing I have gotten out of this entire thread is Coach Jones needs to quit making any promises to any player and give the player with the best camp and practice the spot.
