Couple of observations:

Strong speech from Varys - he's been perhaps the most influential person in the whole saga.

Strange how news travels/doesn't travel - everyone immediately knew about the Frey's, the details of all the allies on Dany's side and any number of other events but Arya thought the Bolton's still controlled Winterfell and apparently Jon and Sansa haven't heard about the Frey's or at least heard the whole story. I guess it's plausible that people wouldn't know it was Arya but she made it clear it was a Stark doing the revenge.

Seems a bit contrived Euron would know exactly where to attack; appearing out of nowhere while the attackees had no clue (don't they look where they're going?)

Olenna continues to be Queen of the burn.

Sand snakes didn't last long after all the arguing about who they wanted to kill.

Overall, the vibe is becoming more predictable and Hollywoodish as opposed to when it was staying true(er) to the books. I guess they are dealing with wrapping it up and operating from the notes of Martin.

Still better than most everything else.

Yes! I have felt that something was off with the last two episodes. I've been feeling as if the writing has not been up to par like the previous seasons..more hollywoodish..makes perfect sense.

There was a lot to like about last night's episode. I also enjoyed the counseling speech Lady Olenna gave to Dany. You can see that Dany respects her. You could also see the pain on Olenna's face when she mentioned how much Margaery was loved by her people.

One quip I have is about this recently manufactured giant dragon killing crossbow that Cersei's old hand has come up with. That just seems like a contrived 'evening of the odds' plot device. First, he can keep the Mountain alive with some magic potion and now he can kill dragons? That is one talented old fart.

The Queen of Thorns and Dany's conversation was very interesting and meaningful. Dany's questioning of Varys and his great speech was another great non-action scene. Like I said earlier, I enjoyed the little talk between Arya and Hot Pie. As well as Arya's run-in with Nymeria. We agree on the GW scene. I love the action as much as the next guy but these scenes are a big reason why this show is so good.

Its the same weapon/concept that Brandon Snow, Torrhen Stark's half-brother planned to use when Aegon invaded the North. Brandon Snow added a wrinkle to it and used Weirwood arrows instead. Weirwood arrows are fire resistant. " There's power in living wood, as strong as fire." Brandon Snow's plan was never carried out because Torrhen bent the knee. Also the only vulnerable spot on a dragon is its eye. if it hit anywhere else its blood will melt the arrowhead like fire melts steel. Dorne during the conquest brought down Meraxes by shooting an iron scorpion bolt, essentially a giant crossbow bolt, into its eye.

They could do all that without going full soft core..I agree it had meaning, not arguing that at all. It's just gratuitous to me. I know I'm in the minority.

Yeah she's beautiful. I am a red blood man like any other man, but I try to control lust. Just nevermind, most people don't give a crap anymore about that anymore. I can always just avert my eyes.

I feel as though this is an overly simplistic and unfair criticism that people just throw out there because it's an easy way to criticize the big pop culture show.

It's pretty obvious GOT now gets nitpicked for things that would never be criticized in other shows, and things that wouldn't have even been nitpicked in earlier seasons. Some of the weakest elements of the story have come straight from GRRM and not a word was said.

It's like Rust says on True Detective. There's only really one story..Light versus Darkness. I'm pretty sure everyone is going to suffer plenty enough to satisfy you, hell Dany just lost a ton of her support. You guys are ridiculous with this criticism IMO. 😊

Beric Dondarion was engaged to Allyria Dayne who is Arther Dayne' sister. Edric Dayne Lord of Starfall and head of House Dayne is Dondarion squire. In the books, Dondarion has killed for the third and final time about a season ago. But the show has kept him around and apparently Dawn was seen in last weeks episode.

They have no books to go by so essentially yes the last 2 sessions will be hollywoodish because they will be written by hollywoodish writers with nothing but an outline to go by

pretty much what I was getting at. they have the characters and the general story arc but they are moving from interpreting Martin to writing for him.

still good but different vibe.

I believe Euron wasted no time 86ing Yara right after Theion jumped off the ship. I think that was her body hanging from the bow when Theion was swimming around in the wreckage.

Does anyone think that the sword Dawn has to do with bringing the dawn that ends the long night? Maybe Dawn is the only sword that can slay the Knight King.

Doubtful... Mainly because the show runners chose to completely screw up Arthur Dayne in the show. I think Dawn would have been featured at the tower of Joy fight scene if they planned on making it part of the story
