HBO's "Game of Thrones"

bitter sweet but acceptable if the announce a new series of equal quality from other stories in GRRM's world.

Completely agree. BB and the Sopranos did the same. It's so much better then pulling a Mad Men.

I thought Mad Men's final season was great even though they pulled the split-season BS.

Dexter, Entourage, X-Files, The Office, HIMYM... those went on for way too long and the quality suffered.

Agree on all of those, and 2 specifically (X Files and The Office) suffered because the main character (or one of them at least for XF) realized it was time to move on and left.

I hear ya. I thought the finale to Mad Men was decent, but overall I thought the series slipped. Totally agree about Dexter and Entourage.

It will either be Robert's Rebellion or The Conquest of the Targaryens.

Two of my all time favorite shows, but I completely agree with you. I stopped watching The Office once Michael left. I only finished Dexter because of how much I enjoyed the first few seasons. The last season of Dexter and the ending was terrible though.

With GoT they have so many characters, and so much material, that they could go 10 seasons if they had wanted to.

I hate where this is going with the Jon vs Sansa/Littlefinger storyline. Jeez have the Starks, and for that matter the North as a whole, not suffered enough? All Jon cares about is uniting every human who will listen to him, to face the WWs and save everyone from annihilation, While Sansa and the evil little turd are worried about are stupid chairs and power. I'm really sick of Baelish. It's time for him to die. Would love to see the Night King to do him in and turn him into a mindless puppet. That would be ironic...In Braveheart William Wallace tells the power brokers playing their Game of Thrones something that I think only Jon understands in Westeros..."Your position exists to serve the people, but you think the people exists to serve your position" It may not quote exactly like that. But it is close. Jon is obtuse to political maneuvering, but he is focused on protecting everyone. I'm sure that means he will eventually be destroyed in this story.

Littlefinger is awesome. He and Varys are two of my favorites. I hope they stay around till the end.

I like Martin's approach to Game of Thrones. I think I remember an interview where he mentioned the good guy doesn't always win. Sometimes the villain does. Something to that effect. And that's why I really like the books/show. The bad guys win sometimes. If one side has the power, money, soldiers, ect they're more likely to triumph. Sometimes the good guys lose.

I enjoyed most of season 1, but I was hooked when they killed off Ned Stark. At that point I realized this show might stand out. I'd just assumed, probably like many people, that the Starks were good guys and they'd come out ok.

Good for you.
