HBO's "Game of Thrones"

I suddenly like the Sand Snakes a whole lot better after seeinng that prison scene.

No TV show is better at setting up plots than GoT, IMO.

This season started out slow, but damn, everything is coming together quickly and perfectly. Great episode, and I have a feeling the next 3 are going to be incredible.

RIP Aemon. It's actually somewhat incredible to see someone die of natural causes in this series. Glad they included the "Egg, I dreamed I was old" line as well.

I can't believe they namedropped Balon Greyjoy. It's been 20 episodes since that leech. Maybe still hope for some Greyjoy action after all?

Those shots of Hardhome in the preview got me pumped.

Tommen is a pretty pathetic king in the show. At least in the book he was adamant about outlawing beets and bringing Ser Pounce's tormentors to justice.

Actually a decent sexposition scene involving the Sand Snakes, although I still have no idea where this plot is going. Need more Doran.

I'm also glad they decided to get Tyrion meeting Dany out of the way. Book readers are still waiting for that to happen.

Its going to be interesting to see how Snow deals with that Cannibalistic tribe.

Really? I thought I had heard different. I'm not a book reader so I don't know, but I thought they met in the books.

I'm finally caught up with GoT. I started from episode one a little over a month ago. This show has definitely taking over Breaking Bad for my number 1 show ever. I have a question though. What happened to the two younger Stark boys?

One is off in hiding somewhere and the other is in the North still. This season isn't dealing with either of them.

So who is Jon Snow?

Reincarnation of Azor Ahai maybe? Melisandre believes Stannis Baratheon is Azor Ahai reincarnated. However in the prophecy she foretold, Stannis asked her what she saw and she responded that all she could see was "snow". I'm guessing in the next book Martin ties this mess together.

What if Jon Snow is actually Azor Ahai (the great "Warrior of Light" who bears Lightbringer (the sword Stannis has)) reborn AND has true blood of a dragon (thus making him brother of Danaerys Targaryen) at the same time? That would make for a really wild change of events. It would also give Jon proper claim to be ruler of the 7 kingdoms.

Also don't mean to spoil things but in the books Tyrion Lannister is being taken to Essos by "Griff" (Jon Connington) and "Young Griff" when he is captured and taken prisoner. Young Griff believes himself to be none other than Aegon Targaryen, the long presumed dead prince and "rightful" Targaryen heir. He could also be an imposter, too, which would explain his absence from this season. Still surprised the TV series did not introduce Griff and Young Griff as they were key in the books.

What we can't discuss theories here?????

Im not giving anything away really. Young Griff and Griff were in the story at this point in the series. Just find it strange that HBO didnt cast their characters for the new season.

The rest are references to past quotes and is nothing more than speculation as to who Jon Snow really is (as in, not Ned Stark's bastard). Jon Snow will be such an important figure in the next book if he turns out like I hope (revealed as son of Rhaegis Targaryen & Lyanna Stark). The story is building nicely to employ the deus ex machina that reveals Jon Snow's true identity/purpose.

That would make Jon Snow the nephew of Daenerys, because Rhaegar was Daenerys's brother. But you are correct that he would still be the rightful heir to the throne.

I've seen the Targaryen "theory" a lot now. I don't think it's a theory at this point.

With GRRM's passion for unpredictability, the popularity of this theory probably ruined any chance it had of being true.

As far as the TV show is concerned, I'm pretty sure that Martin doesn't really have any say one way or the other if the theory proves to be true or not.

Yes. GRRM already admitted that some of his fans have figured out who Jon Snow's parents are. Martin is not going to break away and change the storyline to something unpredictable because it would not line up with the hints he has dropped along the way.
