HBO's "Game of Thrones"

that was classic. It's what I love about the show more than the action...character interaction and dialogue.

BTW stay away from youtube unless you want to get spoiled. Fair warning.

Nah..spoilers don't bother me. I've already imagined pretty much anything that could possibly happen. I just want to see my imagination brought to life in a beautiful and well crafted way with excellent production. I also understand the compression of time. I don't like it any more than any of you guys do. I think when it gets to this point they are banking on two things. Most peoples geographical ignorance, or folks like us understanding the need to compress story.
The Gendry running back thing is ridiculous in light of the other more believable ways that are already established. They could have had Bran send a raven to team Dany before Jon evereven got to Eastwatch telling her that all would be lost if she didn't go immediately to save them with her dragons. That would have been more believable at this point

They're trying to cram 2 seasons worth of material into one season. Still good, but the show should be like a fine wine, more enjoyable to sip than to chug. We're chugging right now.

That is a good analogy. I think they were concerned that they wouldn't be able to keep the cast much longer.

To be fair, there's a limit to how much they can spread things out. People accuse them of trying to rush things, but the real issue is it clearly takes a lot of time to make these episodes, and the amount of time it takes has been increasing. I doubt we would see the end of the series before 2020 if they were trying to make these last two seasons ten episodes each.

I think you nailed it. I don't like it, but I get it. The true fans alwasys get screwed by the dollar in the end.

I've clearly been defending this show, and I still will. That said, it's hard to disagree with any of that. I would even add the following:

1.The final scene between Arya and Sansa. Why are you trying to terrify your sister?
2. If the Night King can throw like that, why not throw at them while they're stranded on the ice? And why not throw at the stationary Drogon while they're trying to escape?
3. They definitely could have killed off some characters that matter (other than the dragon). Nobody has any emotional connection to Thoros. This episode would have been more powerful if we lost Tormund, which was clearly possible.

I'm not one of those people who think the show has been declining in quality, but this episode definitely had some annoying moments.

Its hard to complain about the way the show is going right now when they are following the draft sparknotes that George RR. Martin has given them on how the last 2 seasons end.

So since Viserion has bit the dust for sure, I wanna discuss a thought that has been rolling in my noggin for awhile, and now that this particular Dragon is dead it makes more sense to me. The Dragon must have three heads prophecy and who those three heads are, has been the source of long and heated arguments for years.

It is my thought that Viserys was the third head. There were only three Targaryens in the world, and one of them is dead, and now the Dragon that was named for him is dead. Now there are two Targaryens, and two dragons.

I wonder how much the book will differ from the show if GRRM ever finishes it?

In the books Ser Barric is already dead and Ramsey Bolton doesn't marry Sansa. They are going by the book outiline but not following the book altogether

The Iron Born and Dorne plot is significantly bigger in the books, and there is another large sub plot that has been omitted entirely. There will definitely be some big changes.

That said, there isn't much that got cut that I'm really upset about. The fan theories about those plots have been more interesting than the plots themselves.
