I have been trying to digest what just happen to UT Footaball and not come on here with snap judgements or reactions....... So here are a few things I have arrived at.

Wish I had been in knoxville when Kiffy left. I would have liked one good shot at breaking his jaw, so it would be wired shut for the next 6 months......and that's all I have to say about that.:bash:

Dooley may be a good hire and may not. I am willing to give him some time, but so far I am not impressed. The coaching staff needs to be completed now. This years recruiting depends on the guys we bring in as coaches and as you all know this is the class that will determine if we get back on top sometime soon. I know that tradition brings in some recruits, but kids we need, go to schools that offer them there best chance of going Pro and coaching has an impact on it.

We needed to have a well know and respected coach for OL and DC by now. This would improve our chances at some of those kids we really need and provide the needed stability to the program. Dooley isn't a house hold name yet, so we need one.

I am a Vol fan and will always be one. My feeling at this point is not good. If we do not salvage this class and provide the skill players necessary to fill some holes, Dooley will have an impossible task to complete in the SEC. We lost alot of good players this year and more next. We know next year will be bad, 6-6 at best..so recruiting is not likely to get better....Let's hope Dooley pulls it off.

On another note:
I am a daddy again.......my wife gave birth to Rebekah Danielle on 1/10/10. She was 8lbs 8 oz and 22inches long. It might be important to know, she was 3 weeks early. Pat if your watching don't retire if she's any good she will be all VOL!!!!

So you will be impressed by Dooley if he pulls a miracle and does what nobody expects him to do, which is "save" the class?

Not easy to assemble a staff at this time of year, I like that we are at least taking our time with the assistants, sure we could hire the first guy available, but seeing as how a good portion of our future success is going to be on their shoulders, I say take your time and get it right.

Kiffin left at the worst possible time. Dooley has 2 weeks to complete a recurting class he didnt know anything about 2 and a half weeks ago. Urban or Nick couldnt do much more. Give him a chance.

Pretty impossible situation, anyone waiting for him to "save" the class should save themselves the heartache.

If we didn't have so many EE, this class would really be in shambles...luckily for us ( unfortunate for the kids ) they were already here and would have to sit out a year if they were to transfer.

If you had to take a break during your total length of membership of only 42 posts, I have my doubts about you being able to make it without developing chest pains. I do hope the best for you. Besides, most of the snap judgments here are by the majority of folks that believe in the fantasy that we can attract a much overrated Gruden any time we want.

I have been here much longer, just tend not to say much. Try to save my posts for something worth saying.....it's better than just hitting the reply button and not typing anything.....But you are correct about attracting any coach anytime....won't work. I really am pulling for Dooley and the guys we have. I just wish we could have filled a few of those important holes on the coaching staff sooner. It is hurting us on getting the kids to committ

A good point...

but the real reason you haven't been on here since 1/12/10. :)

I agree with some of the other replies...

1. The decision to hire new coaches may not be completely in CDD's control. He has a budget to work with and for all we know Hamilton may also have some voice in the decision.

2. This is probably the worst time to be looking for new coaches... especially at critical positions. College recruiting is in the final stages, and the NFL season is just coming to an end. Definitely not a buyer's market at the moment.

3. A rushed decision now could hurt this class as well as 2-3 years down the road. I would rather the best coach be hired even if it takes a few more weeks.

Congrats on the new addition to the family.

Congratulations on your addition to the family! However, sorry you waited so long to waste my time with this read.

I love how many people come on this board and expect a freaking mircale of this coach and how "not impressed" they are. Give it time and allow him to make the right choices. Let hime find people who want to caoch at this great institution. Look how long it took GA to find a DC well before bowl season.

Please take some more time off and enjoy it with your daughter. Come back when you have something to say that makes sense.

Sounds like you need another break!!!!!!! Kiffin put us in this mess, not CDD or Hammy. If all the recruits leave, it is what it is, but you can't blame or expect CDD to blink his eyes and have a staff together. CDD is being given three weeks to hire a staff and save what was a top 10 class. Last year dumbass came in with three "months" to accomplish the same (hire staff, save top 10 class/ Fulmer had the #6 class secured before his ouster)
If all we end up with this year are the 8 EE'S, I'll take that in return for for losing the Prick. I have been a VOL fan for many years and I'm willing to give CDD the time he needs to hire the staff that will make him successful. That's the big problem with you and most of this fanbase, instant gradification is all that makes you happy, get a life,be a fan! GO VOLS AND CDD!!!!!

P.S. Congrats on the baby girl!!!

your impressed with 17-20
just how low are your expectations

You are really starting to sound like a broken record! I think this is the only thing you have said in your past previous 10 posts I have seen.

Move on and get over the record! It was La Tech for God's sake! I think Dooley's explained himself well when defending hisdecision to coach there and I believe he is better off for it. At least he has the balls to take those risks and grow as an individual!

You just voided all of your future posts. :)
I agree with a lot of what you say but your antagonistic reply won't win you any friends. For example, I'll just mimic your approach and say:

I love how people come on this board and make believe that their time is more valuable than anyone else's and that they are the sole judge of what makes sense but their intellect isn't great enough for a simple proofread of their own posts.

There. Kinda puts you on the defensive, doesn't it? As Patrick Swayze says in Roadhouse "Be nice."

Touche. However, I am not here to make friends but to discuss what we all have in common. Some will agree and others will disagree with my opinions and thoughts. I am okay with that. I have been blasted before and am sure it will not be the last (see directly above).

Yes, I fussed at the OP. There are only 50 more theads on here from the "nay sayers" spewing the same thoughts. It is time to move on. Yes, we all have the same concerns but people should have had plenty of time to reflect on what has happend, understand the process and support our new coach.

I was by far not the meanest person on this discussion.

Are you any better for fussing at me?

Probably not :) At least you don't try to hide or pretend who you are. I gotta respect that.

Yep, sometimes it is a curse though. Unsure how my wife puts up with me! :)

Trust me, I bite my tongue most of the time or I would have over 2,000 posts at this time! LOL

I guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed today!:mf_surrender:

First off, congrats to you and the wife on the baby!

What exactly has been so unimpressive about CDD so far. I think he has done a magnificent job so far considering how the deck was stacked against him to begin with. Give him a chance--you just might be surprised. I think he is going to end up being an excellent hire and a coach the UT family can be proud of.

Now...Vol fans are going to have to learn some patience. We couldn't have lost a HC at any worse time. And it honestly doesn't matter what coaches are hired/not hired yet...this class is in serious trouble. We are also MILES behind on next years class as well thanks to X. We are just gonna have to suffer through a rough 2-3 seasons and hope for the best. It sucks, but that is our reality. Most coaches have integrity and we just weren't going to be able to make the "huge splash" and lure a big name this late in the game. It was always going to be an up-and-comer who would consider Tennessee a destination job. CDD has a TON of upside. He can recruit...is a Sabanite...and has lots of connections throughout the south--especially LA and TX. Sure, we aren't going to have an all-star staff of "names" but we are gonna be ok. Its just really refreshing to have a coach who wants to be here and understands what Tennessee football is and all the tradition and rich history associated with the program. Thank goodness we will have no more of that "turning this place into USC east" crap. GO VOLS!!!
