Haven't been this excited about UT football since 2006

Call me crazy but im excited about this season. I know we all say it every year but we have been in the dust long enough. Its UT's turn to re-emerge in the conference. We have the maturity and veterans present now on this team just like Swain, Ainge, meachem etc. in 2006. I compare it to Hunter, Bray, Rogers etc today.

Plus there not just playin to play this year. They are playin to keep ol Dools around.

I'm excited every year...and then I watch them play Florida...

I'm excited for the spring game, but in a "oh crap, after that is baseball season which is at least twice as long as it should be." So, it's a long haul til August 31st. When the players report for camp, my alarm bells start ringing. I try to keep in check until then. I usually fail.

So David Cutcliffe's return was nothing to get excited about in 2006?

Nope.

And him being hired was a mistake because evertone knew that he was going to jump on the first head coaching job that came available. When he jumped to Duke, that left Fulmer with the decision of again having to find an OC... a decision that he hadn't had success filling since the NC 10 years prior. Instead of going outside the box and getting Loeffler (sp) out of Michigan and bringing in Ryan Mallett, Fulmer chose Clawson. Well, let me back up. He was turned down by Kippy Brown and twice by Rob Spence.

THere is reason to be excited about this upcoming season for the Vols. More playmakers than we have had in several years, a veteran O-line with a new coach that the players actually like, an actual RB coach, a QB that has as much talent as any we have had since Ainge, and maybe even Manning, depth at D-Line with some big nasty's for a change instead of walk-ons, talent at LB, returning DB's with new (better) coaching.
Call me cautiously optimistic.....

and playing to prove something. love it man:salute:

I'm hoping our team is on a mission to prove that we're alot better than anyone is giving them credit for and some payback revenge.

I think our kids are tired of getting pushed around and we have a little more depth to give guys a breather more often to help keep them rested and stronger for the 2nd half.

Depth is still young and inexperienced but the young kids will work hard knowing they're going to get some time on the field to prove what they bring to the table.

O line just needs to get the nasty, aggressive mentality and prove they can knock some people on their butts and I think our new O line coach will bring that out of them.

Things are looking up so we have reasons to be a bit more excited this season.

Besides, this is Tennessee football and nothing is better than that.

VFL...GBO!!!

The UT sports information dept has announced that all hot dogs that were not sold during the Vandy game last year will be 1/2 off during the spring game

I don't seem to stay excited this year. Probably from so many let downs the past few seasons. It started with the blocked kick at Bama actually, and just went from there. Bad mojo, all the winner-nope-loser games, the injuries, it all just doused the fire I used to feel.

I do feel good about a lot of things right now though. And I get totally pumped watching interviews, reading about the players, talking with other fans. It just doesn't seem to last. Tempered optimism might describe it at this point.

It's gonna take a good year to get the feeling back.

GO VOLS!!

I honestly could not have said it better...I feel the exact same way...I want the best but am dreading the worse.
