On ESPN earlier he repeated his stance that Tennessee is for real and the host was kind of taken aback by it. Finebaum replied to the shock with "I did go to school there, haha"

With everyone starting to hate on us, Finebaum has completely flipped the script in the other direction.

Honestly I'm fine with that. Most of VN hates Finebaum, but with every other major sports outlet seemingly attributing our success to pure luck, it's nice to have someone believe this team is more than just lucky.

Finebaum is an alumni and has always been a fan of TN but you can't talk about and boast about a program that has been down 10 years on your radio and tv show. He's been holding this in for a while.

He plays both sides of an argument very well but always has an angle. It's what made him so successful in Alabama

If everyone is buying he is selling, if everyone is selling he buys! Just being a contrarian to all the other talking heads.

Finebaum is still butt hurt over Coach Fulmer taking away his press credentials. I don't believe him for a sec. If we lose Saturday, watch how he plays his shtick off Monday.

Finebaum= Loser:the_finger:

I think all his time in Birmingham faded his orange. He had (and still has) a great angle before his show went national on ESPN. It was Alabama/Auburn discussion 365 days a year, and he would lean Alabama when he had to because Birmingham is an Alabama city, which would really rile up the Auburn fans who don't like his pretense of being neutral. He was like "Mean" Gene Okerlund standing between Hulk Hogan and Macho Man with a microphone in his hand.

Until very recently, you could listen to his show for hours and never know that he is from the State of Tennessee and is a UT alum. Never goes out of his way to mention it.

Finebaum has always given Tennessee love when Tennessee deserved love, which hasn't happened since about 2004. Why would anyone with self respect prop up the vols teams of the last 6-8 years until this year?

Only homers would have nice things to to say when there are no nice things to talk about.

What exactly did Tennessee give him to talk about? I mean seriously, what sports person outside Knoxville talked about Tennessee the past decade unless they were discussing how Tennessee embarrassed itself?

The reason he talked so much about Bama and auburn is because both teams have been a topic of national discussion since 2008. Look at the number of NCs coming out of that state.

Why would he have been talking about a team with nothing to talk about?

I don't really like Finebaum but I sure can understand why he didn't talk about Tennessee all those years we were winning 5 and 6 games most years.

He's intelligent enough to know if he takes a minority stance most can't resist the bait and boom he has callers locking up the phones. He makes some good points, sometimes he's a little prone to dismiss an opinion because a sportswriter didn't call in with credentials. His newest trick is to play callers against each other, ala Springer.
