Have we found punt/kick returner?

Not sure what qualifies as highly sought after, but Stanford is not too shabby. To think out of all ot the talent on the west coast, they would offer a "lowly" player from Tennessee.

First time I've ever seen someone use a player's 1 other scholarship offer as a basis for how great he is.

After 9 months of coaching, we resorted to having no punt returner. I think that's one of the most moronic decisions I've ever heard. Were the coaches that bad?

Uh, no the roster is. Did u watch thoses guys? I mean all 5,478 players they trotted out there were horrible. Not just bad, but "hide your eyes" embarassing. Punt returning is not one of those coachable things. Most of these guys did it in highschool. If they dont get it during their freshman year they wont. Dooley is on record as saying that he recruits for that position specifically. We better pray someone in this class like arnett can do it, because no one on the roster now can do it.

You still have not seen it. This is not about how great he is, but about bad he is not. Give the young man a chance to succeed before YOU determine that he will fail. Would you not want the same consideration?

I'm not saying that we can just plug anyone in. I'm saying that every year we sign a guy who is going to be "the next great returner" and every year, it's lather-rinse-repeat. How can nobody else see that?

What you said is that there is LITERALLY no reason to think that Devrin Young would be a better punt returner than ANY (not all) of our skill position players. Contrary to your false assertion, many of them were not punt returners in high school and some never caught a punt.

Returned punts for touchdowns > Never caught a punt

I agree with the statement above and you disagree.

I now challenge you to show one place anyone on here ever said that he will be the next Devin Hester, as you said in another post. Noone on here or anywhere else in the world (including you) has ever seen a guy who is as good a returner as Hester and I think you made that part up.

There is literally no reason to expect Devrin Young is a better returner than any of the skill position players currently on our roster or coming to Knoxville next semester

Somebody went to farragut. I have seen Devrin play. I coached against him. He can make cuts in traffic that can amaze. He almost glides on the ground. Im not sure his feet were ever on the ground. He would be an excellent returner because his lateral speed, deceptivness, and vision are very good if not great.

DY is an explosive player and has a good head on his shoulders. It shows on tape and in interviews. He was also Mr. Football in the State in division III which is the top division in the state. That should say something. I would rather give an instate kid a scholarship than give it to an over marketed kid with "4-5 stars" because they are in Florida or Georgia. You show a lot of ignorance by publicly saying a kid will not make it when i doubt you have spent 1 minute doing a little research. I hope you do not have season tickets crusse10 because you and your negativity are a waste of a seat at the Neyland.
