Have we fallen so far that Vandy is our Biggest Rival?

We barely beat Vandy at home last year and Dools celebrated in the locker room like we just won the National Championship.......All anybody wants to talk about on the talk radio is how Vandy is doing in recruiting and such......I seen a billboard on the interstate today of a UT and Vandy Player! These guys used to be a door mat along with Kentucky to finish out the schedule each year. We got players on twitter talking trash about beating Vandy? Wow!

I think it is pretty funny that people are slamming the OP when:

1. Dooley did celebrate like UT just won the NC after last year's Vandy game.
2. There are numerous threads on here about Vandy & their coach.
3. There was a tweet by a UT player this past week talking about beating Vandy.

Personally, I don't think Vandy is that big of a deal. But it seems like every time their coach opens his mouth, there are a lot of UT fans that get really wound up.

Dear Boca Troll,

Teams celebrate in locker rooms after every win.

Mmmmkay?

Maybe you never played even Boys Club football, but this is the way it's done. You win, you talk smack in the locker room after.

If you're offended by post-game locker-room smack, maybe ladies' tennis would be more your speed.

Why is it that if any one types anything that isn't absolute sunshine you're the first one to jump on here and call that person a troll? Does that somehow invalidate another person's opinion?

I promise if there was a video of Bama or UF celebrating to that degree after beating Vandy or UK there would be people on here ripping them apart.

Sure teams celebrate after a win, that's great. Celebrating to that degree after beating Vandy...:ermm:

not if they were in the same situation as UT. But it happens in all locker rooms. For example, do you think LSU celebrated after their miracle win at UK a few years ago?

Sure teams celebrate after a win, that's great. Celebrating to that degree after beating Vandy...:ermm:

it was an emotional win on a huge play in OT. To act like it means anything other than the team letting out their feelings is ridiculous. The only reason you even know this happened is because of a single video. How many other videos do you have to compare it to? That should be a private moment anyway IMO

I agree that it was a positive moment for a team that didn't have a lot of good fortune last year....and it should've been private. I totally agree with you there.

Lol @ "Dools celebrated in the locker room". You're right. Everyone stood idly by as Dools was the only one celebrating.

It was a good win for a struggling team. At home. In front of a crowd that needed to see their team win against a decently tough opponent. There was good reason to celebrate.

Honestly, that Vandy team would've beat Arkansas had it not been for the cheap shot the Arky gunner put on the Vandy punt returner... they had the momentum, and Arkansas was having no luck passing on their secondary.

Fulmer did the same thing during the "glory years" of the 90s. Ive seen post game locker room videos of Fulmers teams screaming "We dont give a damn about the whole school of Vanderbilt" You would have thought it was the SEC title game.

So... to speak of the celebration like its a new thing or a reflection on the state of the program is very misleading. Tennessee has always taken extra pleasure in whooping vanderbilt since Neyland was hired for the sole reason of beating them.

Totally agree, kp. Actually, Vandy covered the point-spread on every single game last year, except our Vols and their bowl game, Cincinati. I laid off the Vols and Cincy, but, won all the others. I'm UTK class of '69 and I work at Vanderbilt. I've become close friends with their strength and conditioning coach, Dwight Galt and he is a class act; a good coach and a good man. The entire staff is in the process of changing the culture at Vanderbilt and I, for one, think that's a good thing. Do I want to beat them every year? Hell, yeah!! However, with Vandy beating some good teams during the year, it makes our tatooing them at season's end all the more sweet. Go Vols!!!

Why is it that everytime someone posts anything that is negative about Dooley, no matter how ridiculous (OMG DOOLEYZ WUZ CELEBRAAATINGZZZZ!!!), you jump right in and try to pile on like a troll?

For some of these guys, it's all about Dooley. They just hate him.

Tennessee biggest rivals are Florida and Alabama, But Alabama's biggest rival is Auburn and Florida's is UGA. Vandy's is Tennessee. Tennessee's rivals are equivalent to Vandys in that Vandy and UT's rival teams are not the other's biggest rivals.

We didn't get to celebrate much throughout the year, so i think it was more of getting that first SEC win than anything. Everybody knows we own Vandy and that's not gonna change EVER.

This.. Also getting a call to go our way after some heartbreakers the previous season was a reason to celebrate

Uh, I played on our HS's first two SC teams and we didn't celebrate like that after our "easy" games.....basically the coaches didn't think real highly of that. Our big wins we did, but the sure wins, we were happy, but not to that extent.

Having said that, I agree with the others on here that that celebration was a long time coming and was deserved by a team that didn't win much last year but worked hard all the same. This was a "situational" celebration more than an every week thing for a winning team. I hope they still do the Candy chant after the game this year.....would be much better to run over to the student section and do it with the students. The student section will have it going in the first quarter this year.
