We keep saying “we’ve hit rock bottom, nowhere to go but up” but man do we ever just keep getting lower. We almost at the point that the only lower place to go is killing the football program. We got lucky with a decent HC hire, but it looks like filling his staff is proving to be next to impossible.

Now is when guys are supposed to be learning playbacks and watching film so they can hit spring ball with some knowledge of their new schemes. Just a truly terrible place the program is in. Absolutely shambles.

I'm about at the point where we tell the NCAA and SEC we're shutting down the football program for two years, releasing all football players to enter the portal, allow all football staff to move elsewhere, and we'll start a fresh new program the 2023 season.

I can't imagine a lower point exists than from January 18th-21st. To pick a single point in time, I'll say January 20, 2021, as we made a small incline with ADDW's hiring the next day When the NCAA hits us, it'll probably be a good punch to the gut, but we'll have climbed a bit from the lowest point by the time that happens. Just as we eye December 8, 2001, as the peak before our decline, we'll look back at January 20, 2021 as the absolute rock bottom before we started back up the mountain. GBO!

Think things are being done, especially with regard to rebuilding relationships throughout the state, that have us off rock bottom. Hiring Tennessee people with valid experience in handling recruiting relationships and administrative duties should get things turned around quickly in opening doors Pruitt and company closed to Tennessee.

As far as the coordinator position is concerned, I think a few things are at work here delaying the hiring process:

1. The talent/development level of the defensive personnel.

2. The offensive approach of the head coach, namely to get to paydirt as fast and frequently as possible, scares the hell out of established coordinators and up-and-comers alike.

3. The interest of the head coach in attracting a guy for the role who is high on the risk/reward scale. Heupel's model for the job appears to be a Jerry Glanville/Joe Lee Dunn type coordinator. Those guys are not concerned about numbers/stats. They love aggression. They love attack. They love turnovers. And they can be difficult to find.

We've got a guy with a young Spurrier-type gunslinger mindset who seems to want someone who approaches the game in the same fashion for a defensive coordinator. If Heupel can get to that guy, then I will guarantee you things will not be boring for us on either side of the football.

Everything is going to be alright. We will be East champions in our Second year. After that we will be battling for it every year , we will be on same level a Ga and Florida.
We will not be getting blasted by them any more.

Another woe is us thread. Neat. The sooner people just accept where we are and agree to continue trying to move forward until we find something that works, the better off we’ll be. No use just continuing to rehash the mistakes and issues of the past in monologues of lamentation. We are what we are, and I’m looking forward to brighter days, whenever they may come.

Just gotta find the silver lining. College football is more about tradition and nostalgia than any other sport. Is Heupel the answer as far as W/L? Is rock bottom hiring a 6-4 G5 coach? Is that a decent hire in your eyes? Can’t answer those 3 questions but I can say I expect enthusiasm, the offense will put up numbers and it will be fun again. Back to sentence #2, half is the game, the other is the attachment to the school. First couple years, buy up the tickets vs the blind schools, his history says he runs it up and will score 70. Enjoy the blowouts instead of boring 20-3 wins.

He will score 60+ in 2 of the first 3 games. Has that ever happened in Neyland? It’s going to,

More frustrating than watching the Curse of Oak Island.
