This is nerve racking but honestly. Until Mike Hamilton steps up to the microphone all these reports are speculation and rumors.

I think Hamilton will bring us a coach that we will all be excited about and who will take us to the top of the Mountain. The search has only been going on for a few days. This is short time. Hamilton has obviously fixed the leaking holes from his last coaching search when all the names were popping up from people closed to the situation.

I think Cut actually was told that he was not going to get the job. Thus the release. I think if he was called it was a courtesy call and nothing more. The Fulmer fire is starting to burn a little harder, but will be completely extinguished once Hammy hires the new coach. FULMER is the reason we are in this mess to begin with.

As far as Kiffin, Im pissed, but he put a spark in UT football that I havent seen in a very long time. I think he would have gotten us to the top of the SEC. Noone would have ever dreamed of Pete Carrol leaving USC in the last year. I didnt even believe it when it actually happened. It is terrible timing and I feel that Kiffin made a mistake. UT Football will survive and thrive in the upcoming years. THE SKY HAS NOT FALLEN YET.

GOOD LUCK MIKE HAMILTON AND GET US A REAL COACH!!!

Well, if all of this is true (Muschamp - contract terms, Calhoun - staff, and Cutcliff - staff) than one thing I have to admit. He seems to be diligent and unwavering on what he thinks we need as a total package. But I hope this whole kiffin situation hasn't jadded us into not trusting at all. At some point, were gonna have take a bit of a chance on someone and trust there staff choices and meet in the middle on the contractual terms.

I have no faith in mh. He's already bungled the whole thing.

How the he!! do you know that???

I am with the original poster. Don't start complaining until you have somethig to complain about. There is a lot of misinformation in the media. Don't be so naive as to believe everything you read.

Let's see who is named and then we can react. Until then, you are getting played by a bunch of rumor and speculation.

I have faith in Mike because of the hire of Bruce Pearl. Until our last coach bolted for USC the hire was great, recruiting was great. Mh cannot read the future and he wants what is best for UT so he will make a great hire this time.

First off, No.

Secondly, MH is the reason we are in the mess. Fulmer did nothing to discredit MH and make the college football world distrust him. It was his decisions that have made AF and DUKE turn him down. So trying to blame this on Fulmer is illogical and desperate. I hope you have another cup of coffee before you post again.

Here's the thing: Mike Hamilton has a job to do and he plans on staying at UT for a long time. I believe he has the best intentions in searching for our coach.

He hired LK with the stipulation that his dad come and help coach. This was a GOOD decision at the time. He knew that LK could put together a good staff here at UT. What he did not know was that Pete Carroll would be leaving USC next season - and let's be honest, who thought that would happen? No one.

MH is a good public speaker and like he said, he gets straight to the chase and I personally like that about him. I think he's doing everything in his power right now to find the guy who's the right fit for our school.

I'm anticipating them revealing who the next coach is too, but it's only been two days up to this point. Blasting him for hiring LK is ignoring the facts of the hire. Have patience.

He seems to have done a good job up until now. I was ready for a change from Fulmer. Kiffin kept me interested and although too mouthy and felt like he was going to get us in trouble I did think the team was well coached, etc. Hamilton can't help an opening came up at the 1 school Kiffin felt was home (Cutcliffe almost did the same thing). This hire will make or break him though I think.

Well said. As whirlwind as it may be, Kiffin leaving will not seal doom and gloom for Tennessee. Hamilton was in Colorado meeting with the search team that brought us Kiffin, because he saw the writing on the wall when Kiffin told him he would be interested in USC. He will ensure the diligence is done to bring in or keep the best candidate available. He cannot not control the media weasels that keep putting reports out as to who is being hired. According to the media, Hamilton has hired 3 coaches already. Have faith Big Orange Fans. Rocky Top will be fine.

I have faith in Mike because of the hire of Bruce Pearl.

A trained monkey could have hired Bruce Pearl. Bruce Pearl had been trying to get a big-time job for many years. As I'm sure you know, he was blackballed because of the Deon Thomas scandal. That's how he went from an up-and-coming assistant at a good program to Division II.

Pearl got the job at UT because he did something that was so impressive that people HAD to stand up and take notice. If we hadn't hired him, someone else would have. The only AD who deserves any credit for hiring Pearl is the one who had the courage to hire him at Milwaukee.

Even if we give Hamilton credit for Pearl, he also hired Todd Raleigh and Lane Kiffin. Two HUGE whiffs there, especially since he fired the most successful baseball coach in UT history and the second-most successful football coach in UT history to hire "his" guys.

He messes this up, and he's gone. Quickly.

If Fulmer had done his job the last few years and was able to compete in the SEC, he would still be coach and we would NOT be in this mess. Fulmer needs to just take his 6 million and go away.

How do you know the AF/Duke turned him down.

News last night was Cut said if he did not receive an offer today he was withdrawning his name. He withdrew his name this morning.... sounds to me like he did not have an offer to turn down.

You lost all credibility on this one, because it implies that every other AD in America is not a "trained monkey." Pearl was blackballed. Hamilton was the only AD to give him a shot. Hamilton deserves credit for that.

Bruce Pearl wasn't exactly the "belle of the ball" even after he did what he did. Because of the scandal and the way he comes off, not a lot of teams were looking to hire him. But MH took a chance and it has paid off big.

Isn't this exactly what happened last time, lots of speculation then a name out of left field... Yeah kiffin is a punk, but he got a decent recruiting class in less than a month, including Brown, who averaged 4.2 yards/carry as a freshman... Bad luck that USC opened.. Or we would have a top 10 recruiting class again and going into next year with a quarterback who doesn't suck....

He was a candidate for other jobs at the same time we hired him. He'd just taken a mid-major to the Sweet 16. If we hadn't taken him, someone else was going to.

And a trained monkey could have hired him. Could have done so for years. The AD who had the guts to do it was the one at UW-Milwaukee. It doesn't take a genius to hire a coach who takes a Horizon League team to the Sweet 16.

Obviously, you didn't take the time to read more than the first sentence of my post. You're obviously in love with Hamilton, so tell me how great Todd Raleigh is while you're at it, too. Maybe this is the year we become competitive with USC Upstate and ETSU.

LOL at anyone actually believing that DC didn't want the UT job. Haha, "Naw, I wanna stay at duke" haha- He wasn't offered the Job guys, which adds credibility to the "smoke + mirrors" campaign.

I agree and also one thing I have not seen mentioned much was the fact MH asked Kiff if he would be interested in the USC job if he was contacted.

MH saw the possible blind side and was all ready getting ready for our next moves...

Agreed... and no one doesn't take it regarding staff decisions, if UT wants someone they won't care about the exisiting staff and what a new coach wants to do with them..
