Have Bama fans started the "Fire DeBoer" thread yet?

Tennessee is the only team that has historically been able to spit in their eyes. I think that's why they hate us so much.
That's 100% the reason. They lead the series 59-40-7 all-time but it was much closer pre-Saban and we have defeated them more than any other team in CFB.

A fairly large minority of their fanbase I think hates Tennessee more than they hate Auburn.

An old army buddy and I go to every TSIO. He a gump but otherwise a good guy. He buys for bama games and I buy for UT games. We always sit next to the same old bama fan. He is in his late 70s . He told me and I quote "auburn is to bama what vandy is to you". "A nuisance and nothing more".

Yep. They have zero respect for Auburn as a program. Auburn is not Vandy; Auburn has won SEC and national titles and is a good program historically, but that's kind of what they see them as.

their schedule looks pretty daunting now. granted game 1 overreactions.

LA-Monroe
Wisconsin
@Georgia
Vandy
@Missouri
Tennessee
@South Carolina
LSU
Oklahoma
Eastern Illinois
@Auburn

They have 2 gimmies. about 4 "should wins", the other 5 are looking like losses now.

depending on how things go, they may be checked out by the end of the year and Auburn game could be even more interesting.
This is roughy what their own fans are saying. It's crazy that it went so bad so fast that you don't find more than a handful of Bama fans right now still in denial.

I think the Wisconsin game will be telling.

if they are able to come back and play pissed off and focused the rest of the year, they will be a scary team. Under Saban, that would have been a given. Under Deboer its an unknown.

And didn't Saban lose to ULM? Seriously, I think he did. So ... 🤔

Lot's of trolls out there saying there is momentum for Kiffin to take over. I don't believe it. They can't afford him plus the buyout, plus 20 million to buy next years team (as per Clay Travis). You are looking at close to 100 million when the smoke clears on that (plus assistant coaches). Geez, that's a tenth of a billion dollars. That seems like a lot.

Does Bama have $60M to pay?
Not and pay their NIL roster and pay for a new quality coach....and it's around 70M by the time it's all said and done with assistants. They are either stuck with Deboer for a few years or they will have to make some SERIOUS NIL and coaching package concessions.

Here is another thing to chew on. Let's say you are being courted by Bama as a new coach. Of course they speak of "The Standard" which basically means they are better than everyone else. How are they going to lure a good coach in there with a low salary and buyout? They have already set the bar at 70 million with Deboer. Lets hypothetically say they put Kiffin in the cross hairs. You think he'd take less than what he's making now at Ole Miss? He's making around 7.5 Million a year, so they would have to get up there around 10 million to land him. After Saban, I doubt they'd take a chance on an up and comer. Remember "The Standard" has to be met.

I think they will be stuck with DeBoer even if they lose 6 games this season.

Floor salary for an SEC FB coach is around $9 million these days -at least for those not camped out on the hot seat.

While I honestly believe that Lane would crawl over broken glass to get the big chair at Bama-hr is gonna make them pay. May the Tide have a long and fruitless search wandering the desert and paying multiple concurrent buyouts

This is quite likely. Go back and take a look at Auburn's buyouts. It's like a bad divorce, remarrying and divorce again and again, then looking at the first wife and saying "She wasn't that bad, what was I thinking?".

The On3 post a few posts above, these guys were going "Heaven forbid they go 8-4". I got news - a 5 loss season is VERY possible at this point. South Carolina and Missouri on the road are going to be tough (and I'm glad we don't play them this season). That's two. Oh, and Athens is hard to play in as well - they got that. And if they survive all those, Iron Bowl is going to be in Auburn this year. I think they beat Vandy, but I thought that last year too and was wrong.

I think the perception of the Bama job for many on this board doesn't match the perception of it in the coaching industry. Dan Lanning laughed when they asked him about the Alabama job.

The meltdown would be full nuclear if they go 0-5 from Missouri to Oklahoma

Should we let those bammers in on the secret that they will never EVER achieve the same level that they did under Saban?
